My car sometimes blows smoke for the first two minutes after a cold start.... and the valve guides are just fine. Overall the car uses VERY little oil.

Dont let that fool you...a leakdown test and compression will be the most accurate guages.

If you can find a better car for the money, buy it. I doubt whether you will be able to.

So, not to sound like a completely clueless rookie (spend my time on the 944 board), but what's a G-50?? I assume it's a 911, just trying to be IN the loop...

The G50 was an improved transaxle introduced in the 1987 911. It replaced the 915, which had been around since the early 70's.

Ah, thankyou, Jack. BTW, your car kicks ***! That is hands down one of the most righteous 911's I have ever seen.

Good looking ride! I must admit that those BBS rims will be hard to clean, however they look GOOD! Also would suggest getting a leak down test with all those miles, but if it passes I would not be afriad to have a car with all those miles on the clock. Even though white is a plain color on most cars, it looks amazing on 911's! Best wishes - Jay Gratton

I have an '87 Targa I bought new (it listed for $48,500). It is a daily driver with 140k miles on it. I have had nothing but good luck with this car. At about 80k miles I had all the seals redone and the car has not leaked since. Other than the standard 15 K maintenance (which I have diligently stuck to), the car has really not had any major or usual problems.

I got into Porche club Drivers Ed a couple of years ago (best thing I did), so it is not necessarily babied.

Great car, great year. I consistantly look at prices of '87s and $12.5 k looks to me as a good deal.
