964 Cam Specs

What are the specs on the 964 cam? Doesn't it have a higher lift, so it's not just a matter of swapping cams.
I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine on my 1988 911 Carrera 3.2 and at the point of making a cam selection.
I'm a new member and this is my first post, so if I'm not doing this right please forgive me.

LOL,..You are doing just fine,....keep up the fine work,..
The 964 cams have more lift and a tad more duration than the SC ones. Lobe centers are the same.
These cams will shift the power up a bit and to take advantage of what they can do, I'd strongly suggest that you upgrade the valve springs, retainers, and rod bolts. Follow that with a custom chip and your Carrera will really go.

A couple of questions regarding drilling holes in the Air cleaner cover.
1. Will drilling holes in the air cleaner cover enhance the performance of a non-modified 3.2?
2. I'm assuming that you are talking about the air box lid that you put over the air filter and clip shut.
3. Will using a 1 1/2 hole saw do the job?

Its not a big thing,...2-3 HP,....
Modified cars and ones with larger P/C's benefit more, but the sound is nice.
Yessir, I am speaking of the cover that retains the air cleaner element. You may drill 6-7 1.5" holes with that tool very nicely.

Hello together,
did you ever think about the "Lenz Power Kat" for your 3.2 Carrera? This factory is in Germany (near Munich/Bavaria) and since 1 or 2 years it has a representation in USA http://www.lenzmotorentechnikusa.com/ .
I installed this kit 70.000 km before (in 1996) on my 1989 Euro Carrera (930/20) and it was the first Lenz Carrera with "enlarged throttle body and interference system". It also has a metall catalytic converter from Lenz!
I drive this car on street, DE, auto cross and the Nürburgring Nordschleife- without any problems ever!
I cant tell you the topspeed on german autobahn, because the speedometer ends at 265 km/h but the rev counter goes over 6800 U/min! Its a little bit faster than a 964 and as fast as a 993 Cabrio with 272 hp or a 993 4S. We have tried this some times, so I think the power is real- and not only on the paper.
And one of the best things is, that there are absolut no problems in half throttle or idle like I have seen it on a lot of MAF cars here.
It drives in the city like stock and some porsche factory drivers were really surprised.
The kit is also testet by the german TÜV.
The only "disadvantage" is, that the car is louder than stock, because of the holes in the air filer box.

Sorry, I forgot an other advantage: There is a software avialable, where you can edit the ignitiontime, injection duration and lambda over seriell cable with a laptop.
This software has also diagnostics and data recording.

Not to sound like a dumbarse, but I spend most of my time on the 944 board. What sort of chip do the late model 911's have?? I had no idea they were computer controlled to the extent that chipping them was possible. Yet another in a long line of amazing revelations about these spectacular cars...
