Default Removing Dust From Air Ducts

I'm in process of having an '87 coupe restored. I noticed there are a lot of dust buildup in air ducts (fresh air, ac, and heater). What methods do you use to remove the dust?

Add additional wire to the handle and push it right through the vents. Will dislodge any and all dust. Do it with the fans on and be ready to be grossed out.
