Looking at my first 911. I've narrowed it down to a '04 C4S dark grey on black (favorite color combo) in excellent condition asking $31k and a '08 Carrera white on dark blue (automatic transition) also in excellent condition asking $32k. I prefer the 997 headlights but don't understand the hatred for the 996. Don't believe the IMS has been done in either car.

Note the elegant design of an all-in-one aero headlight derived from the GT1. (997 at the bottom)
And if you don't think they've gotten fat with age, think again. I have a GT3 and a '67 911. They are night and day different and the '67 is actually more fun to drive.
You really don't overcome weight with horsepower. Listen to Alois Ruf's explanation as he drives an early 911.

If you want to do-it-yourself, buy anything up to 1989. Once OBD1 and OBD2 took over you are at the mercy of a computer and the requisite equipment to work on the car.

Nope. Just an attempt to make Boxster owners feel like the own the grown up's Porsche. All it did was make the grown up's feel like they got the stupid boxcar. There....I said it.
