Default Coco mats proper placement

Just received a set of front and rear coco mats for my 1982 ROW 911SC. Are they supposed to go ontop of the original carpeted mats, or do they sit directly on the metal floor without the carpeted mats? Thank you.

Curious how that works out in a g body. Was always under the impression cocos were more period correct for long hoods. Please post some pics.

Remove the OE carpet pieces (which are not floor mats themselves, but rather loose carpet pieces), in order to preserve the original carpet pile. The Coco mats don't need anything under them.
