Default 911 ALTERNATOR

1978/79 - 930.106.101.OR CASTING - 75AMP Marshall Alternator with coil studs ..... DO I NEED AN EXTERNAL VOLTAGE REGULATOR FOR THIS ALTERNATOR ???

It's an external regulated alternator yes. And from white I have heard they are getting pricey.
This model will only have brushes module in the back. No regulator

So far from my research I think you are correct .... THANK YOU for your answer ...... I believe the Marshall Voltage regulator number is 72711502, there are a couple on Ebay at well over $100 bucks USED and untested ?????? ........

DOSE ANYONE KNOW OF AN ALTERNATIVE VOLTAGE REGULATOR ?????????

Why not upgrade to newer style alternator with on board regulator. There are instructions from porsche on the conversion floating on the net

Well $$$$ is a factor ....... This is an alternator going on a big VW Type 4 motor in a Baja Pre-runner ...... In some ways having an external regulator is good as I can fit two on the car as a spare ( wilds of Baja etc etc ) ....... I have a good paid for reconditioned unit so will stick with it for now ........ With more research there seem to be regulators around on eBay for 30 to 60 bucks ......... Thanks all for your help
