Default help, can't open engine lid

1987 911 turbo. Tried to open the engine lid to check the oil. Something snapped. The lid didn't release and now the cable can't be pulled. I assume the cable snapped or disconnected from the latch. How do I get the engine lid open and repair the cable.
Thanks.

not 100% familiar from the car but have you looked from the underside to see if you can reach up to manually move catch? thats about the only thing i can think of.

I believe there is an emergency pull cord behind one of the rear tail lights.

Get a philip screw driver and check.

Good luck
