Default 4 Post Lift for Storage

Just moved into a new home and want to install a 4 post lift for storage of one vehicle.

Any suggestions from folks who have one are welcome.

Thanks!

I don't have one yet, but canvassed local PCA community and there were a lot of recommendations for BendPak to buy new, and Craigslist to buy used.

I have a Direct Lift and like it. ALI certified, doesn't require air to unlock the safeties and slightly cheaper than the Bendpak. Check out Garagejournal.com for info on lifts.

+1 for direct lift. I've been really happy with it.

I've been looking at 4-post lifts for about 5 years and when/if I decide to take the plunge I already know its going to be a Direct Lift Pro Park 8.

I have an Auto Lift brand i bought from bestbuyautoequipment.com I paid $1699 plus about $130 shipped to the local trucking terminal. I then called a towing company to bring it to my house, and had them drop it off in my driveway. A buddy and i had it put together in about 4 hours. I slightly modified it to have enough clearance to do an engine drop with it. Works great. You just take a hydraulic lift table and put it under the car, then lift the body away from the motor. Installation is reverse of removal.

Looks like you had to modify your garage door opening height to make it fit. Is that correct?

When i built our house, i had the builder install the "high lift" door rails, and a Liftmaster 8500 jackshaft garage door opener.

The wife makes me keep the cayman on the bottom so she can drive it on nice days. I usually travel for work through the week anyways. I drive the Spoolbus any chance i get though. I even have a nice frosty A/C system to keep it cool in the summer.

Hey Scott,

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a 4 post lift but was researching lifts that are wide enough in the middle to allow an engine drop on my 77s and my 02turbo. I have a 3 car garage but the 3rd spot is a strange tandem spot (similar to the pic).

I was looking at the bandpak hd9 which can be modified (holes drilled wider) to allow one ramp without the hydraulics to be moved wider.

What modifications did you do to the Auto Lift brand to allow the engine drop? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Saadi
