Default 915 transmission slider

i'm looking for some advice on my transmission. I have an 84 carrera with a short **** kit and it just does not want to go into 2nd gear very nicely.
I think the syncros are good (no grinding). Just a real pain to shift into 2nd most of the time.

thanks!

Hey easy on the guy!

You should see how I spelled Fuchs when I was in a hurry on a post a while back :-)

I have and had the same problem but I don't have the short shift kit yet. I was hoping a short shift kit would improve this. It feels like I am always sliding into 2nd gear but when I got the car it was slipping in and out of first and changing the fluid made a considerable difference with both first and second gear.

Did you redo the bushings in the shift knuckle behind the front seats? It helped mine.

if the tranny is poping out of gear its possible that the syncros are on their way out....

Default short (shift)

I had to laugh pretty hard at myself when I saw the typo.

Anyway, a mechanic said I needed a new transmission slider. What is a trasmission slider? I can't find it in any parts catalogs.

The bushings at the shaft look okay, no slop.

Thanks for the replies!

I believe that when they mention slider, they are referring to the shifting sleeve.

Sounds like the 2nd gear synchro.
