Default 1984 Factory alarm

My 1984 Cab has the factory alarm but came with no keys to it. I am about to have a key made and began wondering whether turning this on could cause me some unique problems - like - what if I can't turn it off? I have no idea when this was last used and whether it worked or not. The last thing I want is to have to call a tow truck from the locksmith's parking lot. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

I'd do a bunch of reading before messing with it. Horror stories are out there. Lorenfb does fix them as do other places. At a minimum don't try to arm it until the car is parked at home.

It's a very good system that also cuts the fuel delivery, in addition to sounding a horn. Check your door wiring, make sure they are in good condition. If you place a small washer under the door plungeer switch, then you can get a bit more door opening before the alarm turns on. I don't know what Loren has to do with this subject about keys.

I bought a new switch with key from Porsche. Tip: Have spare keys made.
