I know it's like beating on a dead cat, but I read not only that website but also several 911 resources including this Forever 911 book about it. And it all mentioned that this Jubi/Ann is build in 88. Anyways below is a link to a Jubi/Ann that's for sale and it is a 1988 car. I've seen another one (Targa) that is also an 88 Jubi/Ann car.

Delhi,

The car shown in the ad is an '88 Commemorative Edition. It can be referred to as a Jubilee, or a Celebration, (or whatever the seller wants to call it) but that doesn't make it a "25th Anniversary" car.

That was/is a distinct '89 only package. I'm familiar with the Tobias Aichele book, and it repeats the error, IMO, by using the phrase "anniversary" when otherwise properly describing the reason (250,000 911's) for the Diamond Blue '88 cars. I've never seen any factory documentation (see KC911's earlier post re the '88 line brochure) that refers to the the '88's as anniversary cars. Those were the silver or black '89's. The ad is incorrect, and I hope the cat is dead, or at least not feeling well.

Wait a minute...that cat isn't dead yet ! Dehli, I can certainly see how you're confused, as I too have read 'mis-information' about the Commemorative Editions in several books (although I can't recall which ones). However, I do believe the official Porsche brochure for '88 that I referenced earlier is accurate, and the only designation mentioned is 'Commemorative Edition', and there is no mention of 'Anniversary' or 'Jubilee' anywhere in the brochure. Without a doubt, the 'Anniversary Editions' are different, produced in '89, and none of those are Diamond Blue Metallic, nor do they have the signature on the seats. I wish I had a way to scan this brochure, but alas, I don't.

ps. Even all of the CE's aren't necessarily the same...mine doesn't have the spoiler & tail, has the 'Carrera emblem' delete option, and does NOT have the special plaque (commemorating the 250,000 911) depicted in the brochure.

pps: Hold the presses...now I see where Jubilee comes from! On the special circular plaque shown in the brochure (that my car doesn't have), is the following: Engraved around a 'tail-less 911 in the middle) accross the top:
"250000 PORSCHE 911'. And engraved accross the bottom of the plaque: "JUBILAUMS - SONDERSERIE MY:88" (and the brochure states that this plaque can be personalized with the owners name).

Man this is as confusing as the Matrix....
OK OK... so for CEs (made in 1988) it's only in Diamond Blue Metallic? and only 800ish made? while the Jubi/Ann (made in 1989) there can be silver or black and 250000 were made.
Finally 25th anniversary falls on 1989 not 1988 yes?

Delhi, you're a still a bit confused.

- 1988 Model year was the "Commemorative Edition" or "Signature Edition" all painted in diamond blue metallic (including the 15" Fuchs wheels -- 16" may have been an option) with the signature on the headrests. Around 875 total were made in coupe, Targa, and cabriolet. It commemorates 250,000 Porsche 911s manufactured to that point. 1988 was the only model year for this edition.

- 1989 Model year was the "Sliver Anniversary" 911 celebrating 25 years of 911 production. They came in either silver or satin black metallic (the black being more rare, as pointed out in an earlier post) with painted 16" Fuchs to match. There were 600 produced (I think) in Cabriolet and coupe form (but no Targa). 1989 was the only model year for this edition.


As pointed out in an earlier post, 25 years of the 911 actually would be 1988, but Porsche did not make the Anniversary Edition 911 until the 1989 model year.

I owned a 25th anv. about 6 years ago.
The leather was called "silver armchair" (atleast the shift ****)
The steering wheel was color matched with the seats and door panels.
The car had a 930 style center console , held about 3-6 cds and an outside temp gauge and emg. flasher button.
Extra thick carpet inside and also under the hood.
I believe the wheels where 7'' and 8'' with a 16'' tires.
electric seat options
thats about besides standard items.

I loved that car but traded her in on a 1993 RSA and then went back to another silver 911 1988. I actually had a chance to get a convertiable 25th but the dealer wanted way to much for her ($35k) so i took the 1988.

Allow me to add to the confusion....

I recently picked up a 1989 3.2 that is Marine Blue externally according to the options code.
It comes with the bluish/silver interior with a colour matched steering wheel, seats and door panels. It also has a 930 style center console, with the 6 CD holder and outside temp gauge and hazard light button. Extra thick carpet inside and also under the hood. Colour coded Fuchs, electric seats, factory short-shift kit and LSD.

It does not have signatures on the headrest, nor a tail. It does have the front lip and the Carrera logo on the engine cover.

Sounds like a Silver Ann. Ed. but it is not quite the right colour


Any clue?

Your car could not have "Signature" seats since it's an '89.

Also, you could order any 911 with just about any option you wanted (if you had the $$), so your car could just be an '89 with really cool options and not be a Silver Anniversary car. I've seen a few non Silver Anniversary 1989 Carrera's with the center console like yours with the outside temp guage and the CD trays. Neat piece.

The spoiler option on the 3.2 Carrera's consisted of both the front rubber lip and the rear tail. They work together to reduce lift. Having just the front spoiler/lip or just the rear spoiler will negatively affect your car's handling at higher speeds. You may want to remove that front lip or add a rear tail if you plan on doing any high speed driving (i.e. track work).

Yes Jeff. Is that too high? I think so. But it's dealer. There's a 90 C4 964 that's the same price as that. But that's another story. those two cars has been for sale a while now.
