Default Leak after tensioner upgrade

Got the tensioner upgrade about two weeks ago. The car sat on a clean garage floor since Friday. Today I went to get her and found an oil leak. Seems to be coming from new tensioner. Thoughts?

Not sure what that is. Done by local shop.

I'm not seeing the brash washers that usually accompany every other place that moves oil around.

Good eye. Honestly, I'm kind of not surprised (long story) and I hope the shop I used takes care of it. Definitely the likely suspect?

....but looking at the Pelican picture and then back at your picture...if the washers are steel then maybe you do have them and it's just not obvious. There is a steel colored ring on either side of your banjo. Who knows. I'd start there.

No, look at the bottom of the oil line banjo.... It's got oil on it and it's higher up than that nut. Oil is escaping between the chain box and the banjo and running down the outside of the chain box to that nut.

Would you agree it's the shops responsibility to fix it?

Absolutely. That isn't something that is normal. Cars don't just start leaking on their own. If they did the chain tensioners, then they caused the leak.

From the photo, it looks like the washers are there, but they must not have tightened the bolt enough. Either way, bring it back because it's clearly leaking from the job that they just did.

Common problem if you keep re-using old aluminum or copper washers. For the DIY guys who might find themselves without spare new ones, wet sanding them down to remove imperfections works in a pinch.
Cheers,
Johan

Aluminum makes more sense. Twice I typed brash instead of brass. ....but aluminum sounds right.
