Winter Project 09
I'm droping the engine / transmission out of my C4S and have gotten to disconnecting the torque tube from inside the cabin. The bolts seem to be 16mm (not 13 as in the diy on pcarworkshop)... question: how the heck do I get them loose? There isn't much room and they're tightened down like crazy, I just don't seem to have the leverage in there to do it. Any words of advice?

Couldn't find a swivel attachment so I used my bench grinder on a 16mm socket to make it as small as possible then used a cheater bar. Bingo! Man this is fun

Yup, box end wrench with a big cheater bar.
but be careful when it breaks loose... put a towel in place to protect the console.
Looks like you are done though... have fun!

I took 65 pictures of the process, hopefully I have all the ones I need to put everything back together. I'll need to resize them and upload them but here's one of me triumphantly grinning.
This has been a highlight of my summer. I'm learning a lot (never done this before) and it's loads of fun

Big thanks to pcarworkshop for all of their excellent writeups, all the folks who have taken the time to write up their adventures, and bob for giving me the motivation to give this a shot
Turns out most of the pictures are up close to various connections / bolts to try and help me remember where things go. Guess I should've taken a few more where I could see the entire engine or underneith. Oh well Here are some that'll show the process.

Looking good Dan!
It's just about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on
Please tell us what you are planning to do while the engine is out.
Oh, nice job on the labeling. When you start reassembly and reconnecting things, the connections will seem kind of obvious because of the locations match up. That said, you will be happy you took the time to label things!

I thought thy connections would make sense without the labels, but it's nice to have a backup for my memory. The engine may not be going back in for a few months :P What you don't see is every section that I took off bolts / nuts / ect has it's own baggy with a label on it heh.
