GTS/GT4/Spyder ownership feedback
Many on this forum have owned their GTS/GT4/Spyder car for more than six months. Please take a moment to share with us your thoughts about your car. What model did you get? How often do you drive it? What features do you love most? What are some misses? Talk about road handling, ride quality, cabin noise, quality issues, must have modifications, exterior color, interior color, wheel color, headlights, seats, options you wished you had selected, options selected but now seem pointless, insurance premiums (high/low/about right). Close with one advice you would give to someone who wants to buy a car like yours.

718 GT4 , weekend car
best option is full leather
must have modification is exhaust as it transformed the GT4 to a 991.1 GT3
advice: if you can afford one , get one and enjoy

718 Spyder
Love it. Drives great. Exhaust could be better, but I’m not dropping over $5k for sound. Just me.
Plenty of cabin noise is to be expected given then light weight top.
Handles well and gets a lot of complements. The attention factor is heavily dependent on color choice. Get what you want not what others expect. It is your money.
Silver, black and white blend in well. Others , less so.
Full leather, Bose, heated seats, CarPlay and LED lights will be appreciated by you now and perspective buyers in the future. IMO manual for the Spyder and PDK for GT4 (track) suits the cars’ function. Again, personal opinion.
No reliability issues thus far at 1900 miles.
Best deal on dollars/ smile.

Python green was the best decision. Fun to look at, everyone loves it, especially kids. Exhaust gets better after 1000 miles, more so if you drive it harder. I still don't see anything else in its price category with a manual that can possibly replace it.

Awful car. Gearing’s too long, exhaust isn’t loud enough to wake the dead, gearbox grinds when all you do is try to shift without fully depressing the clutch pedal, and the handling is ‘horrible’ unless you spend major coin bolting on some pure awesomeness from the JC Whitney catalog. Oh, and drag your brakes all day in the canyons like a student driver and the brake fluid will apparently boil. Don’t even get me started on those cheap fixed seats. All that money and Porsche couldn’t have made them recline? Seriously, what’s up with that?
Hate my GT4. If the market for used cars wasn’t so dead, I’d sell it tomorrow.

Obviously my opinion here…
2020 GT4, weekend and track car. Bought used. Drives like a GT car, loud cabin noise, stiff suspension, etc. YouTubers complain about the gearbox. I don’t have any canyons or hills within 500 miles to compare but I do have tracks and love the 6 speed gearbox. To me, when on track, it’s perfect. Have a Garmin Catalyst which makes Sport Chrono mostly useless but appreciate the clock. Wouldn’t option it if I had the choice. Wish I had leather interior but the carbon fiber trim is awesome, carbon fiber illuminated door sills is a very underrated option. 18 way seats are underrated for track/weekend duty, especially if you drive to the track. Had carbon buckets on my last car; wife, friends and family hated them. Now, they love the 18 ways and I can manage them on track with tightening the bolsters, doing the seat belt trick and padding up the Bose speaker/cheese grater. If you’re chasing 10ths, I can’t help you but would recommend racing seats over any P option.
My advice to anyone in the market…would not recommend the GT4 as a daily or if you don’t plan to take it to the track. The GT4 is a fantastic car on track and a great car to get you there and get you home. But it’s compromised. If you want a daily that you could track, get a GTS 4.0. I know a Chin Chief Instructor with a GTS 4.0 and he’s (obviously) quicker than me with his GTS. And he loves it. Think about all of the cars he’s driven or sat in. That says something.
Cheers.

I used to have a 981 GT4 and I didnt really see much issue with the gear box... I loved that car. I only sold it because I got an offer for pretty much what I bought it for and my son was just about to be born... so needed something more practical with a back seat. however now I am looking to sell my 1M and M2C and get an allocation for the 718 GT4. my fingers are crossed.... I hate waiting.

CGTS 4.0 - Exceptional all around sports car. Most of my driving is unfortunately in the city although I try to get out to some country and back roads once a month or so. Don’t really do track days regularly anymore but plan on doing a few upcoming. Previously had a GT car with buckets and the road noise, stiffness, and ground clearance I didn’t quite like except on the track where it was sublime and where I still miss it. GTS with SPASM (probably my only must have feature which is thankfully standard) and 4 way seats is perfect for my current use. Very Comfortable and quiet enough for long trips or daily driving and zero problems with ground clearance. Extremely capable spiritied driver. The engine is the best part - smooth, progressive, powerful, and rewarding to rev out. The suspension is agile and versatile yet sporty and adequately stiff at the same time without being overbearing for the road. Manual transmission + clutch combo is the best I have ever experienced and highly addictive. Don’t really mind the gearing but as others have said you have to use 1st gear as an actual working gear that you wind out and regularly downshift into which is kind of cool and unique. I now think the exhaust sound is good and appreciate it more after about close to 2000 miles but I did order an aftermarket exhaust months ago because I was initially underwhelmed. My only gripe with the car is not being able to turn off auto rev match - I hate that feature and it is not defeatable in sport or sport plus mode so I just drive in normal mode. All in all I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these cars or seats or transmissions - each combo or variation is subjectively better depending on the individual and their personal preferences or usage. You don’t need many options either just the essence of the car is more than enough.l
