I did this myself on my non-RS Spyder. Unless you have TINY hands or extremely comfortable working in a 718 engine bay, don’t do it. I have large hands but they’re thin. My hands were destroyed for 2 weeks after. So much rubbing against the engine covers textured like sandpaper. With gloves on I couldn’t squeeze my fingers in far enough.
My local Indy charged me $300 to do the install on my 992. Worth every penny.
Now that I have a GT4RS I’ll ask him to do the job on that car also.

I wear a medium-large golf glove and I installed the controller myself in my Cayman GTS. It was ok, no cuts and bruises

It probably would have been fine if I hadn’t forgotten to reconnect a harness and needed to check every connection. So basically doing it twice back to back. And the second time with less patience.
fwiw my American glove size is between L and XL

I recently did this on a 718 Spyder (non RS) and used a longer handle pick set to release the gray tab and pull it lose and these long handle pliers from harbor freight to connect both pieces.
Never moved any vacuum lines or tried to get my hands in there. Took some finessing and patience but was easily doable. Used both pliers.

OP,
Do you already have your car, and have determined that it needs more sound / volume? Or just an assumption based on other cars?
With Pavarotti singing full volume in your ear, do you want / need a lesser backup singer adding in?![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I’m curious whether you have your car and find it wanting, or this is based on experience with (non music box) intake cars.

You can disconnect the valves hoses and plug them (open locked) or try the collar mod. I will try the collar mod first only to almost delete the sound change and try to avoid the booming sound at low rpms

But the intake noise is independent of the valves. I guess you're going for exhaust noise down low, pre intake volume rising.
