it could be worse you could be in a 997 GT3 ... the clutch on that was SO heavy you'd be able to kickstart a Bradley Fighting Vehicle and you'd walk around in clockwise circles with an enormous left leg "calf" muscle.

You guys are lucky. Not even the tracks around here are decent. Tales some driving to find any modest elevation or decent bends. I lived in the Durhole-NC area and at least the drives there were decent.

Not exactly near my house but the trip to my Son’s former college starting in Albany through Adirondack Park up to Canton, NY, just shy of the Canadian Border. Fantastic windy driving roads through forests, along lakes, and farmland with next to no police presence.

Absolutely. Way better than the Dragon and you rarely see any patrol cars.

I drove the Cherohala Skyway when I recently bought my Spyder out of the Knoxville area. Started with it in the morning followed by the Dragon. I enjoyed the Spyder much more on the Cherohala than I did on the Dragon since it had runway to use more of the power & much less crowded. Stopped for lunch at the Tapoco Tavern between the two which was a great spot along the river. I’d also do the Foothills Parkway if you’re in the area.

I live in Dallas and the roads out here are not remotely as fun!

Which road is this in Austin? I’m likely planning a trip down from Dallas in the fall after it cools down & would like to do other roads like the Twisted Sisters.

Wolf creek pass UT, is my favorite local road. Todd and Paul our fellow daily triple zealots film a bunch of drives for everyday driver YouTube channel on wolf creek pass It’s legit fun. Flows well. So many great and empty roads in Utah. Blissful driving, our neighboring states are great too.

The main downside of NorCal however is that as good as some of these roads are, they are also susceptible to traffic and therefor are not ideal to drive at all hours or just on a whim which sucks. Early morning is usually the best for weekends or mid-day during a work day. Other than those the traffic sucks so much in the Bay Area that its hard to enjoy the car just around town which is a shame.
I agree. I'm lucky to be 20 minutes from the bottom of LaHonda, where portola valley road starts. Super easy to head out on a Friday afternoon or even weekend afternoons, especially as the v days are longer now.

Tapoco Lodge is nice and right in the heart of the best driving roads in the area, but they have new owners and the rates have gone WAY up. Snowbird Mtn Lodge right on the Cherohala is great too, but also pricey. Those are the only places in the area I've stayed, so I'll have to let others chime in about lodging.

To get to the Cherohala from the bottom of the Dragon on the NC side, take Hwy 129 south about 16 miles to Hwy 143, which turns into the Skyway after about 10 miles or so. Those first 10 miles are slow w houses & businesses, but once you hit the Skyway its driving heaven!

Completely jealous of you guys with great roads near home. I'm in Dallas and there's nothing here but pothole filled straight roads laid out like a sheet of graph paper.

I have a couple good country roads near me but Hocking Hills (southern Ohio) is only about 45 minutes away, rt 180, 678, 375, triple nickel, etc. down there are all a ton of fun with great scenery.

Today's loop was a lengthy one
