Default Porsche Don’t Want You to Know This

It is not a video about which was is better - because obviously that is subjective. But I geeked out on this. Totally fascinating. And I suppose, rather obvious if you own a business. Streamlining to maximize profit makes sense. An interesting watch - even if you are not an engineer .

Porsche 911 AKA how many different ways can one milk the same tired cow. Haha. That 47% profit margin on average for a 911 is sheer genius of marketing. I also drank the Kool-Aid and forked over a substantial sum for one not too many years back. You can slap a 911 badge on a Pinto and it’s value would automatically double.
I do love the 911 but Porsche’s endless 911 variants have colored me cynical. I guess until the suckers stop coming or Porsche is forced to bow to the environmental *****, the gravy train will keep running in Stuttgart.

But he certainly praises the quality and design and engineering that makes a Porsche a Porsche. Thus the mantra “there is no substitute”

I think Cayman/Boxster owners have known this forever. Only 911 owners really care.

The sheer number of shared parts was news to me I must confess.

When I was trying to convert my 981 Spyder inner door handles to standard pulls I noticed just how many interior parts were identical from 911 to 981. Damn near every one.

Yeah... nothing new. This has been known for a very long time since the 9x6 gen.

In other news, scientists have covertly discovered that water is, indeed, wet.

Yeah quality is awesome on the 981 and 991 with the standard interior. Park it in hot weather and the door panels start separating away from the door. 1500 bucks per side at the dealer or you can send it to Pedro. Just one example. When the 991.2 came out, one coukld go through a couple a water pumps very quickly.
The cars drive really well which is why I am on my third but quality is VW/Audi at best. It is best not to get carried away.

Porsche is proud of this. In fact this is why you buy the Boxster and Cayman. It has 911 DNA! Carry on

Seems that 718 boxster and cayman are doing just fine. I guess coming from Ferrari to Porsche perhaps skewers my view. Anecdotally very happy with both Porsches I have owned.

“Lexus and Toyota have earned top marks for dependability, and the Porsche 718 (Boxster and Cayman) is the most dependable model across all vehicles; but across all brands overall, vehicle owners are experiencing more problems after three years of ownership, according to the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study”

Porsche build quality is better than the abysmal quality of Ferrari? Not a great revelation. I don't know why but the nostalgia is also strong for British sports cars with Lucas electrical systems. If you couldn't drive your British sports car in the rain, it had character. My British friend from work (way back) loved his car (I think MG) which didn't care for any liquid falling from the sky or otherwise and was indifferent to his adulation. After he got married, his American wife (who also didn't care for his penchant for brewing and consuming vast quantities of his own beer ) forced him to sell it for a Ford Escort painted in a hideous red color. Obviously his PhD in biochemistry did him no good. Anyway, this is neither here nor there.
Modern Porsches are so much better, thank goodness. Also hope that your view hasn't been skewered? Usually I do that to my kebabs.
