why so many gt4 for sale compared to gts?

@neteng101 How are you able to search across the full US in the Porsche Finder tool? For me, the filter for location radius is 500 miles max. Is there a way to extend the search range?
Also Boxster GTS 4.0 vs. Spyder is vastly different compared to Caymans.

I think you're SPOT ON Denny. The "cycling" of GT4 RS ownership has clearly begun! LOL!!

Like how others have stated - I think there is more a market for flippers in the GT3/4 market than the GTS market. Although, even when you look at the 981 generation, there always seems to be more GT4 availability than GTS... I chalked it up to production volume (but not having any solid #s in front of me, this is all conjecture).
In late Dec, early Nov last year when I bought mine, there were usually 30-40 718 GT4s available and about 20-30 981 GT4s, compared to 5-10 GTS in either generation. Now, there are more available for sale for all cars - perhaps it may also be influenced by the continual downturn in economy??

Agree with consensus that GTS are more often purchased for all around use compared to GT cars.
I will add one data point on 718 RS models. My Spyder RS has not yet arrived, but I ordered her with the intention to keep that car forever.
Porsche will never make anything like it again, so it would be crazy to flip it.

I think it's because gts 4.0 people want to keep it. It was going to be a keeper if I got an allocation! GT4 are trading up or flipping. There's like 6 gt4 within 20 miles of me and 1 gts. The gt4s are marked up to 150k used while the gts has 0 options at 105k. I put in a deposit to get on a list and didn't get anything in 6 months so I just ordered a 911 instead.

Probable 2+ to one GT4:GTS production combined with a GT4 is more of a transactional purchase.
People like the diminished depreciation and use them as stepping stone cars to 4RS etc.
Market is cooling so folks dumping also as the days of free driving nearing an end.
Daily driving may be a small percentage, but really how many buy as an only car…not many. Most who have P sports cars own multiple other vehicles.

But my brain doesn’t work that way. I can always make more money.
But I’ll never again have the opportunity to custom order a new Spyder RS ever again.
Putting together my own unique custom SRS spec that I’ll enjoy for decades is worth far more to me than a random 20K.

You are likely completely correct.

I can confidently tell you these individuals are not car guys. They are collectors who happen to like cars.

Enjoy your New incoming Spyder RS.
I'm glad you have the financial means to afford that RS.

I totally agree with you! To the point that I bet all the marbles that Porsche would make a GT4 Touring and passed on a couple of GT4 allocations. Obviously I lost the bet. When I realized that there was no chance of a GT4 Touring it was too late to get an allocation and learn to live with the wing. I thought of trading my 2018 CGTS (2.5T) for CGTS 4.0 but it would have cost me more than $30K to trade up. So I decided to convert my CGTS to a GTS/4 TOURING instead. Still cost me some money but now I have the GT4 Touring look that I wanted with the softer riding and more amenities of the GTS, the best of both worlds for me. It doesn’t matter to me if the car has depreciated more or other people don’t like it, it is not their car! However, I will always believe that Porsche made a mistake in not making a GT4 Touring.

That's an honest response. I am old at almost 63 and can't use my Boxster 25 as a daily driver. I used to drive my 991.2 C4S manual in NH as my only car but even in a 911, I got tired of the hwy noise. Snow tires and all. can't imagine driving a GT4 daily. Maybe I could do it in C4S PDK but now I just use my Boxster for recreation rather than trying to cram it into all auto-related duties. GTS would work very well for you.

As long as you are Ok orthopedically, you will be fine. I’ve had my fair share of sports injuries and more recently challenges from a bicycle accident which have exacerbated my symptoms
