Assuming I will definitely need track pads though, right? And of course brake fluid.

Do most of you have Tirerack heat cycle your tires?
I just had GY SC3’s in 265/305-19 mounted on my new Apex 19” EC 7rs wheels- I had them Heat Cycled by TR. These are the meatiest tires I have ever owned. The first thing the installer said to me “these things look like they’re really going to hook-up!”.

As far as fluid, I’ve been using SRF. Track pads eventually. I’d burn through your OEMs a little first, then move to a pad thats either Street/Track ready, or a more track focused pad. Im running Ferodo DS2500 right now, but Im noticing that my skill level by years end will out grow them for track, but they are advertised as a street/light track compound - I have been happy with their performance as of now, but they do fade a bit late in a session. Next in line for me are Pagid Yellow RLS 29

^ I do - definitely worth the extra $.

I'm also using the 19" AD09s (255/35 & 285/35), Pagid RLS 29 yellows, and Endless RF650 fluid for my '22 CGTS4.0.

Depends on how you define the term "lightly" 🤣

Might even have a full track day left on them lol

I’ve been running Bridgestone Re71RS in 255/35-19 and 285/35-19 but the rears are on back order.

Has anyone tried running these tires in 265/305? I have -3F/-2.5R camber with camber plates on the front but not the rear.

Am I going to have rubbing issues? Do these tires typically run wide or narrow? I know someone running Nankang CRS in the wider side with no apparent rubbing.

Scrubbed in my first set of RE71RS today. I'm running the 255, 285 19 sized. So far, love 'em. I like the max grip and breakaway characteristics and if they last the expected >25 heat cycles, they'll be the whole package for what I do right now. This is compared with the RT660 and the SC3R on a fairly low grip track which emphasizes sweepers.

Not sure what all counts as a heat cycle, but I did 9 autocross events and 8 track days on my 255/285 RE71RS and they kept getting better and better til the 10th autocross where they started falling off. Nearly corded at that point though. I'll be putting on another set in 265/305 next week.

I got 6 solid track days out of mine. Rears looked like yours but the fronts showed a bit of chunking with cords exposed. Most days were in extreme high heat and had a day with 30 min sessions at Sonoma.

Why haven’t people previously run 265/305? Were they unavailable until now or is the 255/285 a better balanced setup?

I think because unless you run with all systems off, 265/305 messes with the traction/stability control systems

Its due to some facotors like no availability of 295’s in the RE71RS… and 255/285 doesn’t required camber plates front/rear like 265/305’s do. Its the path of least resistance, and less $$$$. The RE71RS were a candidate if I couldn’t get my hands on SC3’s, but Im adverse to running lower than 295 rears (mental thing), I would have gone 265/305.

I wont be running my SC3’s in 265/305 until earliest Sept. so I can’t speak to how this will affect the nannies, but I haven’t heard many negative drawbacks to this setup, and pleanty of people run these sizes. Ideally I wanted to run 255/295 SC3’s but that wasn’t an option inventory/availabilty wise, and I was set on running SC3’s - would have saved myself some loot, and I would have my new APEX wheels on the car if I chose OEMish sizes; buyers remorse… sorta, but I have to own it!! Plus I need to get another 10-15 sessions on my Cups on my OEM wheels to feel like they weren’t a waste of money (total HC’s will be 25ish).

Buying/trying new tires and sizes is part of the tracking experience. Part of me is happy I went with the the widest tire from the jump. It forced me to add the suspension bits right away, now I’ll have no limitations fitting appropriate sized tires on the GT4.

The stock tire diameters are 26.8" front and 27" rear, the 255/285 setup is 26.0/26.9, and the 265/305 are 26.3/26.3. If anything, the 255/285 would cause more issues as the fronts are nearly an inch smaller than the rears.

I have noticed that I seem to have a tougher time threshold braking with the 255/285, since ABS feels like it comes on easier than before. I'm also a relative novice and have greatly increased my pace over the past 4 months so I'm braking much later than I was on the stock cup 2 or the stock size PS4S I ran earlier this year.

@TRSCobra I’m curious to see how you like the fitment of the 265/305’s, and if you feel there is enough clearance without the potential of rubbing @ -3F/-2.5R.
Are you going to keep these specs, or try to dial in a little more negative camber F/R? I don’t recall coming across any fitment guides for 19’s running the widest tire options when it comes to ideal alignment specs to ensure there is no rubbing on track; only the standard -3F/-2.5R.. Toe typically 0 - .5 (out) Front, ~4 Total Rear (in).

As I recall, the 305 RE71RS only became available for ordering a few months ago, and then were back ordered for a long time. A friend only got his pair within the last month ago.

I am really excited about the OEM sized Nankang CR-S tires. Phil's Tire says they should have possession of them early Sept. They have placed their order and it is not part of the customs SNAFU of the previous containers

I already have my name on the list.

I'm hoping my F/R camber plates will keep these from rubbing the fenders with my current -3.0/2.5 camber. I don't plan on changing my alignment for a while, unless I really start pushing and these start wearing like my last set did at -2.5/2.0.

^^^ I didn't have a problem running the 255/285 setup but I kind of wanted a wider tire and the 285 being out of stock made the decision to go wider even easier.
