Default 6speed GTS 4.0 vs PDK spider RS

Was at the dealer today picking up my cayman gts 4.0 from it first annual service and run into my sales rep and asked about the Spyder RS and he said “ give m 5 min” after which he came back with the manager and he said “ all the allocations are gone but we have 1 more at the end of the year and you can have it at msrp but you have to trade in your gts .
What would you do? I know the spyder to is a special car but I’m afraid I will miss the manual gearbox

One more at the end of 2024, or 2023? Did they say what value they'd give you on the trade? I can't answer the transmission question, only you can.

Spyder RS have PDK s which is a fantastic gear box
engine is much better , suspension etc
but again you will be coughing up 100 k on top of trade in
also if you get a fair amount of rain in your area , the roof can be a pain

Dealers were broadcast through the end of 2024. These post summer shutdown allocations not in the system yet.

No, they didn’t give me a quote for the trade in as it is still 10-12 month away and a lot can happen between now and then but if it’s not fair price I can walk away ,.
I traded in my 981 S for the gts with them and they were fair and I also bough the 981 from them previously so there’s a little history

Suggest you compare the options lists. Your GTS will have more creature comfort options like heated and cooled seats, adaptive cruise control if ordered, a convertible top that actually works with one button. Which seats? If you take the car on longer trips the GTS might be better, otherwise the Spyder is more of a raw sports car.

In Illinois one would lose the tax break if trading earlier than 9 months, not sure in your neck of the woods. Assuming the dealer would want your car now, which is typical.

I definitely wouldn’t pre-trade your car until the order is confirmed.

OP said he was in CA, don’t believe there’s a tax credit there.

Assuming the dealer doesn't absolutely torpedo you on your GTS trade-in, why wouldn't you? The worst that could happen if you ended up missing your GTS is to sell the Spyder RS and buy another GTS as they are not hard to find. And then pocket a nice chunk of net profit in the exchange. I hate flippers but that's not the case here.
