Spyder - taking off engine cover
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here took off their engine cover for an air filter replacement or a VIN verification.
I just spent the entire morning trying to SMOG my car and every single place said that they won't do it unless I take off the engine cover myself.
I found this video which shows how to do it for a Boxster, would appreciate if someone could confirm it is the same for the Spyder
Thank you

Do you think it is safe to drive like that for a few miles? Dont want to take it apart in the SMOG\DMV parking lot

Think the recall was only for a limited range…
Couple threads in the past on finding emissions stickers

There is a label in the center, but the engine compliance data label is on the hatch edge. That’s why in CA they start wanting to look at the engine..just a guess.

So 14 places said no (some on the phone some to my face). The 15th was like "yeah that sticker (the one on the hatch) is enough for me". Got everything done without taking apart anything

Reminds me of the tire shop that said you can't patch a run flat tire, that it's illegal. I hung up on the guy...
