Curious to hear your thoughts either way. Please refrain from posting unless you actually did this upgrade. I know how opinionated RL gets. 🙄

No regrets. I went spyder to gt3+4rs
I do miss the spyder form factor and find myself on CarGurus looking. however, I miss the looks and the drop top. I don’t miss the engine, at all. I don’t miss the mt, gt3 is better.
I don’t love pdk, but I love pdk-s. It is very fun, especially on 718rs because of the noises, especially the downshift “bark”. I would not prefer a gt4rs in manual. If you miss the manual, you could always add a 987 spyder or a 981 boxster GTS
Its a no brainer, you wont regret it and if you do it’s a 2 way door.

I think those that would have regretted it already chose not to go that route because this is rennlist, where people know exactly what camp they're in. Asking for only people who pulled the trigger to answer is obviously going to get like 98% of people saying they don't regret it at all.
I was asked if I wanted a 4rs allocation, and since this is canada it was at MSRP at peak gt4 pricing so would have worked out to a minimal amount on top for a trade-up and I turned it down specifically because I 100% would have regretted not having a manual for a street toy.

I recently swapped from a manual GT4 to a GT4RS, it was also my first time driving a PDK. The manual debate will always be personal, but in my experience I really enjoyed the auto-blip feature for manual and was ritual to turn on for each drive. I've seen some bash against that, so if you love auto-blip you're probably more inclined to enjoy the PDK experience. I drive in manual mode 100% of the time and haven't lost any satisfaction or driving connection.

What I miss the most is not manual but 5-lug wheels. I do not like CL on 4RS
For manual, I plan to get another manual car, just for the road. I do miss the actual process of shifting gears.

I have both a 981 GT4 and 4RS in the garage along with owning a 718 6MT Spyder that I sold. 0 regrets with the 4RS and I actually grab the keys 99% of the time where I'm thinking of selling the GT4 since it doesn't get used since the 4RS is that good.

I've had a version of this for 4 years on a 991.2, manual....
The 4rs PDK is epic.....

I don’t think this is a fair comparison. If you want a manual car then the 4RS is not for you. If you want to compare manual vs PDK then compare the standard GT4 in each flavor. RS has a different motor so it’s going to give you a different experience which contributes to people’s opinions.

I switched from a '20 DeMan GT4 6mt -> '23 GT4PDK (slight regret -> '23 GT4RS .. zero regrets

thus the reason for this post.

I am biased....
Gt4 manual feels anemic vs GT4rs. PDK does nothing to subdue the experience.

I have lots of seat time in a 4RS, and having driven one at the track as well, I can assure you the lack of 6MT is easily overcome by how epic the rest of the car feels to drive. And I'm a diehard 6MT enthusiast.
