Not sure of your choice of words or emoji, you didn't really want it, or you would have kept it..

Here you admit this was the plan all along.

@Westcoast agree, in that case I would imagine the end goal could have been achieved with any high value P-car and not an limited avail. GT ...

Any high value P car will not fetch sticker back Atleast not from the dealer.. specially after the fact that car sales are not as hot as they were during Covid times

The car community of Northern Virginia is swamped with people who just want the car to flex and take to cars and coffee. They don't care about how the car drives or using it in a way that Porsche designed. It's about showing off. You won't catch any of these people at Newcomb's ranch (figuratively). Whoever has the the rarest car with the lowest miles wins in that area. Whoever has a rare allocation with the highest MSRP wins in that area. These cars will never get used. Manny Khoshbin is their idol. Although these people make Porsche money, if AP had a say in it, he wouldn't sell to them. There are some dealers I've come across who gatekeep these RS and GT allocations only to people with proven track records of being an OG Porsche fan and will actually use the cars and they will offer them at MSRP to these people...even while customers are willing to pay $100k ADM. If you can't enjoy the car and put miles on it, then you couldn't really "afford it" in the first place. The car now controls you, and you don't control the car. There are exceptions to this rule, my friend has an orange GT4RS in NoVa and probably put 15,000 miles on the car in 6 months of owning it... drives it everyday like it's his last.

Maybe Porsche can start selling these cars without a powertrain included so they can just be parked forever.

As long as this all stays clean, it is interesting to read what other think about these cars.

I like the no engine flex concept LOL, perfect. The CXX request to have no engine or transmission, so nothing leaks on the collector floor, would be framed at Porsche HQ.

I think McLaren does that or Ferrari in their museums, at least with the F1 cars. They are just rolling chassis with no powertrains. I remember Richard Hammond back in the day had a pedal GT3RS on TopGear.

That dealer I mentioned earlier offered me a Spyder RS at MSRP with no weird hoops to jump through, I don't even have a purchase history with them. The GM knows I use my cars. I declined the offer because I knew I'd end up storing it in my garage undriven because 1. I think it's too fast for the backroads (I live far from a racetrack and I'm not going to only drive my car on a racetrack), 2. The car's value to my net worth ratio is high for me to be able to enjoy the car worry free. If I had $2M cash, I wouldn't really care about a $200k car, I'd drive it until the wheels fell off. A lot of my friends ask me what GT/RS cars they should buy and I pound the table recommending they get a mid-miles 911, Cayman, or Boxster so that they don't have to worry about depreciation, and more importantly since the car already doesn't have "collector" miles, you can just use the car everyday and enjoy it everyday. Personally, my dream GT or RS car would be a well maintained 30-50k mi example with a price that reflects that. Change your oil ever 3k mi and the car will last longer than you.

At my local cars and coffee when the crowd sees a GT or RS with 50,000+ miles they all say "what a hero" and congratulate the owner. That owner is doing what we all want to do. I know this sounds easy, but you should only be buying cars that you'll actually drive. You can make more money in the S&P500, cheaper to maintain a brokerage account, too.
