PORSCHE TAX and because they know most owners probably paid 2x as much on their 6cyl vs 4cyl

$2,500 is hard to swallow but these results are pretty fantastic for an NA car and APR produces a good product. I ran their tune on my Audi S5 for years with zero issues.

My main concern is the reliability of the 9A2 4.0L engine and the troubling number of engine failures emerging. Porsche has stepped up and replaced/repaired all of them so far, to my knowledge, but can't imagine they be as helpful if a tune was discovered. If I had more faith in the motor, I'd give this real consideration.

Arin@APR I looked this up on the APR site, and from the picture, it looks like the unit itself plugs into the OBDII port. Does it communicate to something with Bluetooth, like a phone app or a flash loader of some sort? If so, does the app store the OEM flash so you can swap that back to take the car to the dealer once a year to keep the PCNA warranty folks happy? If not, how do you keep a copy of the OEM digital info? How exactly does that work?

Thanks

Yes. Without a doubt. Anyone that puts an aftermarket tune on an ECU should know this.

You visit an APR dealer and they install the software to your factory ECU via the OBDII port. We have a copy of every original file, which can be put back on by the dealer at any time.

Ok, thank you. Seems very inconvenient to me. Any chance there's something in the works for a solution that the end user can use?

We are rewriting our flashing tools from the ground up to support at home flashing. I can't give you a date for this platform's support yet.

@Arin@APR Can you explain the process to switch fuels from say 91 to 100 or E85? Is it because this generation of ECU is closed loop the entire load range that the ecu will simply adjust, no need to switch maps like in the old days of open loop high load tables?

Thanks in advance

Did you guys really do a baseline Dyno on the GT4 motor and achieve the exact same HP / Torque figures as Porsche claims (414hp / 317tq)? (the "Stock as Measured by APR" @ goapr.com would suggest so)

Yes. Statement is accurate and correctly answers the customers question.

Here's a very sever guide on fuel switching:

https://www.goapr.com/support/fuel_guide/

The ECU needs to be reflashed to go from a pump fuel tune, to a race fuel or ethanol tune.

Yes, we did baseline the GT4. If you would prefer, our website also has the wheel figures. Just select the octane, and then choose the wheel graph. Here's an example:
