I experienced the dreaded failed climate control fan this weekend and wanted to share the quick fix for those that have experienced it and are unaware and those that will inevitably experience it in the future. I remembered seeing this issue pop on occasion here so when it happened to me I just figured it was a known problem and that I would just have to live with it (fortunately it was a beautiful morning so I was still able to enjoy the drive with the windows down). The symptom is what appears to be normal climate control functionality (you can alter temp & fan speed controls) but no air is being blown from the vents.

When I got home I did a search for the issue and found a couple of things to trouble shoot. First I checked the fuses (all good) so I proceed on to the procedure in the link below which fortunately worked. I still plan to have my dealer replace it, but they're nearly two hours away so I'm happy I can manage it until my next scheduled service rather than make a dedicated trip out there.

 

Thanks for sharing the fix, nyc is way too hot this summer and would hate to start the car for a drive and see this.
