Has anyone found a way to install a 4 point harness in a 718 Spyder? The seat belts are straight forward but the shoulder harness needs some sort of mounting point and the harness bars currently available are specific to the coupes and supposedly not compatible with the Spyders.

 

I don't think I've ever seen a harness bar in any 981+ Boxster or Spyder.

Have this on shelf. Schroth 4-points have finally arrived after several months wait, so the plan is to install the mount and harness in coming days.

Will revert back. Have a feeling I might need to sacrifice one bose speaker for the mount, but that is a price I am willing to pay in a spyder, where listening to music is rare anyway.

 

Thanks for this source! Their website does not indicate if these will work on a 718 Spyder but I plan to give them a call and see if they are compatible. I will report my findings.

I don't see anything in that thread confirming it will work on a Boxster. There's one guy that says he's gonna try it but no follow-up.

 

That's a GT4 install; question was about a Spyder.

Are you saying the shelf (mounting location) behind the seats is the same between the Spyder and GT4?

 

I am pretty sure the mounting point (the crossbar the BK mount attaches to) is identical between GT4 and Spyder. But as I will attempt the installation on my 2020 Spyder in a few days, we will know soon enough.

I contacted BK Auto and they said they have not tested the R1046 harness mount on a 718 Spyder and cannot confirm whether it will work or not. If the chassis configuration behind the seats is the same on a Spyder as a GT4, then it should work. Looking forward to hearing about the above mentioned attempt. If, for any reason, the project is delayed, please post here and I will make the attempt myself.

 

My plan is to do it this upcoming weekend. If my wife and kids allow. :-)
