Default Is the windshield supposed to bead water from the factory?

Was washing my car today and noticed that water beads really nicely on the side windows and rear hatch glass, but not at all on the windshield. I also remember reading in the manual that the side windows have some sort of coating from the factory, but not sure about the windshield. I recently had my windshield replaced (Porsche glass), but I can't remember if my original windshield beaded or not. Anyone can confirm?

Not sure about coatings but along the same lines, I just drove my CGTS through an hours worth of rain on the I95. Parked her up wet with the intention of cleaning her the next morning. Anyway, imagine my surprise when I went out to find an essentially spotless car! No water marks, or dirt anywhere - even the wheels.

Guess Porsche know their aero! Possible coatings etc on the glass, lenses, wheels etc.

The windshield is uncoated from factory. Drove back in the rain when i picked up my car and it beads about as good as clean glass but that's about it.

I have my windshield PPF'd, but for my cars in the past i'd actually add a layer of wax onto my windshields. It was way more hydrophobic vs coatings like rainX and helps reduce the amount of dirt that gets imbedded into the glass so when you clean it and re-wax it, less clay barring is needed.

Go buy some RainX from your local auto store.

1st thing I did before leaving PECATL was to apply an Aquapel coating.
