Oil use GT4RS
#17
just for a reference point…I have the same motor on a different car (992 gt3). I’ve owned it from new and followed strict break in protocol. I use it regular street daily driving and canyon carving, no track.
I have 4200 miles and have used 3 qts of oil. First at 900 mi, second at 2550 mi, and 3rd 4200 mi. It has been evaluated/documented at dealership with no concerns

Took delivery of a GT silver car last week. First check at 57kms and only a third full! Bit annoyed as I would have anticipated the dealer to check and top up so that I, as new owner, was not going to have to worry about in the first month. I Australia can only get the Mobil 1 C40 oil in 5 litres. Have ordered 6 x 1 'quart' bottles from the the US. Luckily arriving tomorrow.

1550 miles, zero use, mostly street, 3 track days, indicator still in top 1/3rd of measurement.
On another note, fellow 4RS owner under 1500 miles, had to load up and leave Mid O yesterday with a low oil pressure issue.

I'm surprised anyone would take delivery of a new car and not check the oil level. Takes all the guesswork out of it.

Oil must be a Porsche C40 vs an A40 0w-40. By my reading there is only one oil on the market that qualifies. Mobil 1 ESP X3 0w-40. My GTS 4.0 could use a 5w-40 C40 oil, and there are many oil manufacturers that comply. The reason for the C40 classification is an extremely high flash temperature and non additives that will destroy the Petrol Particulate filters that the newer Porsche natural aspirated engines have. Using the wrong oil (ie a A40 oil) voids the warranty as potentially destroys the filters.
If caught 'short' you can top up with a C40 5w-40 oil like Liquid Moly Top tec 4110 5w-40. (there are some 15 C40 5w-40 oils on the market in Europe but currently only one 0w-40 C40 oil. Mobil 1 as above.

VW 511 00 standard is the same as Porsche C40. The 'VW' oil is manufactured by Mobil, I therefore assume the 'Audi' version is the same? Mobil, with Porsche, developed the oil to work with the new high temperature petrol particulate filters.

I'm curious for those of us that had to add oil did anyone check it from day one and see how full it came from the dealership? I know I didn't. So although I had to add .8 qt I'm wondering what the oil level was when I got the car.
