Trade-in Value for Allocation
#16
well they can - I have both personally experienced, and heard of 2nd hand, dealers recently doing exactly this:
- I was "offered" a GT4RS allocation at MSRP if I:
- traded my 2018 GT3 w/35xx mi on it for $130k (MSRP $186.5k)
- and did European Delivery - additional allocation for dealer
- I know of another individual who was also "offered" a GT4 RS allocation if they:
- traded their 991.1 GTS for $0 ...
dealers can make whatever offers they care to, one can either "take it or leave it"

Sure they can offer but cant force me to trade in my car, thats utter nonsense

while PCNA may frown upon such practices ... I doubt that their franchise agreement prohibits such!
YMMV

With GT4 coming to the end, the dealer unfortunately has leverage.
It is a numbers game at the end of the day. ADM + potential trade-in loss is what you should be looking at. Don’t forget they can also upsell you with maintenance package, extended warranty….etc, etc. Add all those together.
If you want to spec your own car, prepare to bend over.
Other option is to buy a used GT4, and sell your car privately. But then you have to deal with tire kickers.

Yeah...the dealer definitely has the leverage for the situation and i'm sure there are plenty of others ready to ****** my build. I'm overall dealing with a good problem to have and trying to reduce the pain, but sounds like I'm likely at their mercy and hopefully I don't get as reamed as some of you.
It may be a PM type thing, but curious which dealers these were. I'm also in the Bay. I had a different local dealer offer "$0 ADM", except I had to get pretty much every extended/extra warranty/service they offer and a 911 Sport Classic watch for $15k (MSRP). That all added up to be about $40k-ish+. No knock for those with Porsche watches, but it's not within my budget/taste for 5 figure watches. That's probably a whole new thread.

I understand didnt actually mean "force", i meant they cant put a trade in condition for selling a new car. Whatever be it the deal sounds crazy and i will walk away if they dont pay a fair deal for my car or put these ridiculous conditions, all depends how desperate you are for the car

The dealer holds all the cards. If you want a new GT4 at this stage, you play by their rules. Simple as that.

The prospective purchaser can either agree, negotiate, or walk away ... its the buyers choice, as it is the seller's to set the T&C's as they like (within the constraints of the legal framework they are operating a business in)

one last observation, dealers are asking for trade-ins because:
- due to the supply chain issues, cars are in short supply, taking a trade-in gives them another car to sell at a profit in addition to the car sold
- this is also why asking for Euro Delivery is also attractive ...
- they can "hide" ADM in the trade in vs. its market valuation, so they look "good" by being an MSRP dealership
- the ADM (difference between market and actual value) does not appear on the bottom line (as a real ADM does) and is therefore not taxable (to the purchaser)
