Angry How to remove shade/shroud/cover over instrument cluster?

I have an annoying rattle coming from behind the gauges when going over bumps. It can be replicated by hitting the top of the shade/shroud/cover (whatever it is called) on top the cluster. Dealer wasn't able to fix it so far.

I've found a bunch of videos about removing the gauges themselves, but none on how to remove the cover, which seems like it would be most helpful in this situation. Has anyone done it?

Thanks,

Bents

I changed the face of the tach on my 981 GT4....the process is documented on the 981 forum.

Thanks. I have seen similar threads but, like yours, they don't include removing the part that I am asking about which is the shade/cover on top of the gauges.

You have to pull the top from the back with a pick or something with an L shape to get behind. I'll see if I can find the photo I took and posted to the nav retrofit thread....

One of the tabs is in the center of of tach. You need to fit the pick in the spots between the speedo and the tach and the tach and the digital gauge and pull straight out. Be firm, but not violent. You just have to release the tension of the clips. The lower side parts are easy.

^ Thanks. How about the big shade that's above your finger nail in that photo. Ever removed that? That's the part I'm asking about.

Mine has a crackle too but it comes from the Sport Chrono section, sounds like Geiger counter...

Anyone know how to remove the Sport Chrono dial? Is it even possible to just remove that?
