Funny you mention the comparison with the S2000. My GT4 also reminds me a little of the S2000 I owned some 15 years ago. Both felt tight, light on their feet, and love to rev! Similar colors too..
Thankfully the GT4 doesn't love to snap oversteer quite as much!
Oh thats awesome! NFR is my all time favorite S2k color and i generally dont like red. My first S2000 (2004) was in NFR.

Oh God. Don't say that too loud or the Camaro crusader will be here to tell us all how much the rear suspension sucks again.

LOL funny I've read about every review and watched every video I could find about this car, and all I'd seen are glowing reviews about how the 718 GT4 is nearly the perfect sports car. Drove it at PECLA to confirm even.
Then after I buy one I come to this forum and see a guy who says there are so many things needed to fix the handling, and it makes me question everything!
Yep
I'm going from a gorgeous S2000 to a Spyder. My S2k was supercharged and had a good amount in very tasteful and proper upgrades in it so it was quite the weapon. 427WHP and 277 WTQ.
Great write-up, and I cant wait to compare just how much better the GT4 will be over my 05 S2K when I take delivery next week.
That's amazing. My second S2k was also a 2005. Personally i always thought the AP2.1 were the best years. Cable throttle to me just spoiled me in terms of throttle control and response. You'll love the GT4. It has everything that we love about the S2k and more while being a modern car. AND it's only 400 lbs heavier. Man i love the Berlina Black though. Such a good color. It's the only time black as a paint has really stunned me. The S2000 for a long time was always my dream car and it was something that made me fall in love with every single time i drove it. And i daily drove that car for a good 2 years too. I'll miss mine a lot but the GT4 is a very very worthy upgrade.

Oh wow that's awesome. My friend just finished his S2k build. Full (authentic) Spoon Sports body kit with a built and supercharged engine by Blacktrax Performance. I'll probably do a comparison video one of these days on my youtube channel as he probably spent about as much on his car as i did to buy mine.

Sounds like your friend has a nice build!
I had LHT do supercharger install... Kraftwerks kit... clutch, flywheel, suspension, exhaust... etc. great great car. The Syper is the only car I ever considered replacing it with.
Like you, I've had some seat time in friend's P-cars... 981 GT4, a few 911's, some seat time in a 718 boxster GTS (I think it was probably a 2017 MY)...
Here's a continuation of the first vid with some engine shots. I miss that thing...
I took these vids when I was selling it a few months ago.
My big complaint is that for some reason the AC is broken in my car, which the LA PEC team did notify me about prior to the pickup of my car so its not that big of an issue, and its been cold so no reason to use the AC. But at the same time it just sucks that something is already malfunctioning in the car. I did spec the dual climate option, but part of me thinks i should have just saved the money, my girlfriend and I are similar in that we like the same car temp and we both hate the Auto feature, so the entire time i just had both of ours synced and set to 65 degrees.
Great write up and congratulations!
Regarding the AC; There have been a number of reports regarding AC problems on these cars, A search here on Rennlist should bring this into focus, you are not alone on this one.
As for the Dual Climate Control, it is the best thing about the AC system if you opted for it, you get to choose the actual temperature not just a point on the scale, you get to split the temperatures (if you desire) and when you do choose a temperature the system works to keep it there, no need to fiddle with the fan controls, and it is nice because one person or the other might not want the air blowing at them all of the time, IIRC the basic system cannot split the fan speeds side-to-side or sync temperatures like you mention above.
Also, it looks more modern than the base system controls, Yep, it is better than sliced bread!
This was the perfect car for me. I had always hoped it would be based on the specs and all the videos i watched hundreds of times over. But after finally owning the car, it is 100% my perfect car. I couldn't ask for anything more. And while yes a GT4RS does sound amazing, i actually feel like it would a bit more than what i want. The GT4 for me scratches the driver itch in my perfectly while also being civil enough when i need it to be. It reminds me of all the best parts of every car that i've ever owned while also providing an overall even better experience. 14 months of waiting dissapeared in the blink of an eye as soon as i turned the key and put my foot down. it actually amazes me how much better this car is than so many others that I've had. And those were no slouches either. but this? This car, such an amazing piece of machinery.
Thanks for reading i know its a bit long winded but here are some pics.

You said you were a track novice. You definitely need to take a PCA or other club one day High Performance Drivers Clinic. After that you can decide if you want to do a DE. The car is designed to be driven on the track. Probably OK for a one day event, but a more track oriented alignment is needed if nothing else to save the left front tire.
Suggest at minimum PPF for the nose, rear rocker panel, intakes and behind rear wheels.
