718 GT4/Spyder, "sport" mode with auto-blip?

It's especially funny because Porsche renamed the SPORT button on manual GT cars to AUTO BLIP because that's all it was doing and they thought the naming was confusing vs the function on PDK cars. (paraphrased quote from an engineer they had out at a launch)
On a 982 GT4 or Spyder, auto blip does not alter throttle mapping, it does not alter the thermostat target either so what is "sport" about it?
Matt previously passed on some second hand "info" that 4.0 BGTS engines are mechanically different from 4.0 GT4/Spyder. Suffice to say Porsche disagrees with that also, I've asked.
It does not.

I think on certain other models the only way to access auto blip was to turn on sport mode or something. He’s likely confusing the operation of his Spyder with that. I think this is just misinformation and because he’s on TV everyone is questioning themselves now. Nice to see Matt doing his part to raise the profile of the Spyder though. Hopefully he will do more videos on his car.

I sent Matt a message on instagram to see if there was anymore info and he responded that if its a manual car, Auto Blip is the Sport button. Can't say I've ever heard that before and there's definitely no information about that in the manual for European cars either.
I've emailed Porsche GB to see if they can shed any light on this but doubtful I'll get a response!

I now have a 2022 718 Spyder and can’t feel any difference in the engine responsiveness when in auto blip is activated. I watched the same Video and was confused as well when I heard Matt mentioned sport mode being activated by turning on auto blip. I think he just got some incorrect information.

On PIWIS, the auto blip is the sport button indeed, but there's no sport setting programmed to it, only the blip portion. I was messing with PIWIS and I got the sport symbol (right dash) to pop up when I press sport just like in the cars with the steering ****.
I think it was AP that said that these cars are always on sport mode.

No longer the case for 718 if MT. PDK sport does drop the temp. In the MT cars it only does so after you floor it for a few seconds.
In any case there is 0 reason why Farah needs to use auto blip if he doesn't want to. Even if there's a magic sport mode it has never given you any more power it just changed the throttle mapping. So none of it makes any sense.

Thanks for asking this question. I just got finished with that video and went onto the internet to figure out WTH he was talking about and first hit was this thread. I do believe Matt was misinformed. And I think it might have come from the man himself, Mr. Deman, based on his one post on this thread and Matt’s explanation on the video. Unless the Deman modified engine has a mode attached to the button, the button only does exactly what it says it does….auto blip. I think this misinformation comes from the differences between the 981 and 718 GT cars. One of the things I like most about these cars is that there are no modes. You get all of the car all of the time.

I am shocked at the breaking news that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
