So the good news is my dealership recently contacted me and said they might have an allocation for a GT4 and asked for my spec. I pretty much determined most of my options. The bad news is, because of my self imposed spending limit, I am trying to decide between leather or PDK. The "Leather/Race-Tex Interior in Black with Red Stitching" will cost $3660 because of the additional charge for "Stitching in Deviated Color". PDK is $3210 so the cost is approximately the same give or take. My previous car was an '06 CS with manual and standard interior which I was extremely happy with so I do not have experience with either which is why I'm turning to the community for their opinion.
As far as how I intend on using the car, this will purely be a weekend fun car. I might track it but I also said the same thing about my previous vehicle but never got around to it. I'm just wondering which one would you choose if you could only choose one.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing people's opinion.
Years ago... 2016 GT4 was a deal breaker for me because no PDK. We ended up with a GTS.
If you like stick and there are no limitations, then get the interior.
Otherwise save $450 and get the PDK

Definitely like stick but have no experience with PDK. So I have paddle shifters in my daily but I never use it b/c it just doesn't do it for me but not sure if it's because of the car or something else. Not sure if I'd feel the same with PDK.

Difference in price; less than 3%
Unfortunately, I drew the line and I have to stick with it. Otherwise I'd be ticking every option. But I know what you mean. lol

Tend to think non-leather interior packages look super cheap. Would never consider a car without it. Not sure how anybody could prefer vinyl to leather.
Manual or PDK are not budgetary considerations…but if they are, then you’re probably over-reaching for the car, and that is never a good thing, because you'll never fully enjoy it.
I went through this same thing with my Spyder. I changed the configurator more than 10 times from manual to PDK and back again. My 981 Spyder had a basic interior and I knew if I got a 718 I would go all the way with interior. I’m glad I did because having every surface covered in leather with blue stitching looks amazing. And it feels so much nicer than my 981 interior. I too had a budget and leather won out over PDK. But I have no regrets because the manual is fantastic.

I had a self imposed spending limit on my 2003 Mini Cooper ($21K) and my 2010 Cayman S PDK ($75K). I was in the middle of residency when the Mini became available and did not have the funds to purchase a Cooper S. No big deal really. Seven years later I received a great discount (~7%) on the Cayman, so nothing had to be omitted from my original specification.
The pandemic made me realize how fragile human life were, so the spending limit went out the window. Espresso natural leather? Why not? Leather covered seatbacks? Sure, what is $1,600 between friends? Shark blue paint? Absolutely!
Life is short. Please do not compromise on such a luxury purchase.
I chose the standard interior for my GT4 with PDK, no regrets.I track my car a few times a year and definitely wanted PDK after seeing so many other PDK cars on the track always in the right gear. While the leather interiors look nice I too felt I had to draw the line somewhere and I'm perfectly happy with the "poverty" interior. A msrp of $113,950 plus ADM, sales tax, title and registration fees, etc. and it's a $150k car.
With Porsche there’s no downgrade with getting the manual. PDK may be faster off the line or on a track, but the manual is so easy to shift and fun to use, I never think I wish I had the PDK. I had PDK in my 991.2 Targa GTS and it suited the car but when I ordered my 992 Targa, I got stick and both the Boxsters I’ve owned have been stick. So with all that, if you’re trying to keep to a certain budget, I’d get the leather to uplift the interior and not look back.
For a fun weekend car, it would have to be MT. Having had both there is no comparison in engagement and love of the car over time - obviously if you you get some satisfaction from ****ing. and if its not your DD you give up no convenience. PDK is great for chasing lap times or a necessary evil if you have to commute in it. I have to believe as manual transmission becomes less common it will also help retain value even after this crazy bubble pops.
My gt4 is leather and MT. The leather i would not have thought was such a big deal. But no doibt it makes the car feel very special every time i get in it.
seems like an easy decision. i think the grand majority of folks here would say that the car must be manual or must be pdk. pick the right one for you, then decide if you can add leather. 6MT for me, but i understand why others love PDK
A few G on leather was the easiest money I've ever spent on an option. One door looks like a base model honda civic. The other looks like a 6 figure car. IMO the leather interior is the only money option that will likely see you get back all your money on resale and possible then some. I remember in Canada literally every car for sale at the beginning of covid that sat on the market was a plastic interior car except for 1 or 2.
