LWFW

I’m strongly considering doing a lightweight flywheel and heavier clutch combination on my 718 GT4
I’ve searched around (RL + YouTube) and there isn’t much out there.
Can anybody provide any real world experience with this on the 718 platform?
Im looking for a freer revving engine,
Improved performance, and
I want the chatter and the noise at idle (love that sound)
Downsides-
What are they, and are the substantial?
Bonus-
Porsche offered a LWFW option on the 911r. Did they change anything substantial other than the LWFW to support that option?

I did the Ninemeister lightweight flywheel and sports clutch. Very happy with the results.
Car revs more freely as expected with proportionaly less throttle application. Some increased chatter at idle but not really too noticeable. My car is loud as it is though (exhaust, headers, etc) so your experience may vary in a stock car. I haven’t really noticed it to be much more difficult to start at idle which was also another potential downside I read about before committing.
The sports clutch is pretty under-rated IMO. The engagement point is narrower and the overall mechanism is just slightly heavier and shorter so shifts can be faster and still very smooth.
Basically, I didn’t notice any downsides besides installation price and think the upgrade was well worth it.

The only lwfw option that I know of is Nineister as well. It will most likely void the warranty on your engine if anything goes bad due to increased vibrations on crankshaft. Personally would not jeopardize the warranty for lwfw.
On a side note, on my previous 997.2 GT3 I had the RS 4.0 lwfw installed and the car felt more rev happy and really liked it. The rpms kept varying at idle though and sometimes dropped 200 rpms all of a sudden and come back up.

AASCO LWFW with Sacks clutch. Plenty of info on the 981 GT4 section. You can buy online from lots of suppliers. I think the clutch is 560Nm rated. You need something stronger for a 4.25 or 4.5 L build but it will work fine for a standard car.

Sorry you may be correct. I thought both motors have the same FW bolt arrangement and use the same gearbox and spline. Call AASCO and check. Design 911 in the UK lists an AASCO for the 718 GT4.
If you go this route, do check the crankcase position sensor is within spec (about .9mm I think) for clearance from the flywheel; I had a lot of issues with limp mode and weird CEL codes due to it being too far from the FW. Had to adjust the mount; took a lot of wasted effort to find that issue.
