Elevated idle for 60 seconds on cold start
This occurred after link pipes and header install. The Porsche dealership that did the work said its normal Haven't had any other issue, no related CEL just the elevated idle. 60 seconds it drops to normal. Anyone have insights? I think if there was a vacuum leak there would be other symptoms and a CEL

Didn’t your car do that before the headers? I thought they all did on cold start?

Elevated idle at cold start is normal although I would have guess it closer to 30 seconds. I've read they do this to heat the catalytic converter faster for emission reduction. I think they do it to **** off my neighbors when I'm trying to sneak out for an early morning adventure

Mine is pretty consistent at around 30 seconds.
Don’t know if ambient temps matter, this is in South Texas so always milder

Thanks all for the feedback. Seems like 60 seconds but might be less. Yes, to heat up the catalytic converter makes sense.

All cars of this generation do it.
The elapsed time for the elevated idle is dependent upon temperature. Super cold? It’ll keep the idle high longer than if you’ve overnighted in H3ll.
It will even elevate the idle on a warm start depending upon how long you’ve let it sit.
Most people - with their “most people cars” - don’t even notice it because most people think exhaust and engine noise is a bad thing so manufacturers hide it.
