I programmed the 3 homelink buttons to my garage doors today. Was having a hell of a time getting the car to accept the codes from my remote. Then I read the short trouble shooting section a little further down in that section of the owner's manual. It says if the remote's battery is low, the code may not take to the car. Even though my remote would open the 3 garage doors, I opened it up and tested the 3 volt CR2032 battery, which was only at 2.8v. Put in a fresh battery with 3.27v and the remote transferred its codes to the car no problem! Posting this to help others out, didn't see anything searching for the topic.

My pleasure. I have programmed a few Hondas and Acuras, an Audi and a couple of BMWs over the years besides my wife's Macan and my GT4. Porsche is definitely the most difficult I have encountered, the only one with an antenna under the bumper cover or behind the grill, where you have to get out of the car,

After about 5 hours of frustration (over the course of several days), I simply restarted my garage door motor by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Then it finally programmed using the same steps I was using over 50 times. Hopefully this works for someone. For reference, on the same day my wife's BMW 5 series worked after one attempt at programming... Good luck.

My experience as well. I've programmed over a dozen of my cars with HomeLink over the past decade without issue (5 vehicles in the past 3-years), including my Cayenne GTS. I couldn't get my 2022 CGTS 4.0 Homelink to program until I decided not to follow Porsche's directions and stayed in the driver's seat to do all the programming, viola, it accepted the programming from the driver's seat where it wouldn't from the trying it at the front bumper. YMMV

the receiver is at the nose of the car according to the owners manual, did you put the remote up there?

I just programmed the car. I could not find the remote at first and tried to program it from another car parked in the opposite way in front of the 718, but that did not work. When I found the remote it went easy.

FWIW, I have never had a problem using LED light bulbs in my 2 garage door openers... really can't see why I would, they are off until the remote triggers the opener, then they turn on.

Yes, the receiver wouldn't take the signal from the remote until I put a fresh battery in the remote.

Good to know, I put LED lightbulbs in my 3 Liftmaster remotes a few years ago. They don't affect the Homelink functioning on either our Macan or GT4.

It's in the owner's manual if you search the index for "Homelink", but basically hold the "I" and "III" Homelink buttons until the red light flashes quickly to clear any previous stored codes, press the button you want to program until it blinks slowly, get out of the car and hold the remote about 20cm from the top of the bumper cover to the left of the hood emblem about even with the left edge of the center grill opening, press the remote button you want to program and hold it until the turn signals flash 3 times. Then if your garage door opener utilizes rolling codes, press the learn button on the opener, get in the car and press the Homelink button in the car that you just programmed. The manual has a picture showing where the antenna is under the front bumper cover for that step.
