Default 718 GT4 Spacers

Several spacer threads on Rennlist - but none that address my specific interest.

Seems 7mm spacers up front with nothing in the rear is the 'go-to' spacer mod among GT4 owners.

I personally do not think 7mm is enough poke; still leaves the tires too recessed in the fender well.

I THINK 12mm up front would be ideal, but not available by any reputable distributor, if at all, that I can find.

I am looking to go with Future Classic and their spacers jump from 7mm to 15mm.

Has anyone placed 15mm up front?

I THINK 15mm up front and 7mm in the rear MIGHT be an optimal setup, but haven't seen the combination or 7mm in rear.

I am after aesthetics; do not track; stock suspension, wheels and Cup2 tires; steal breaks.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

The optimal set-up for the car's intended purpose is stock. Remember that spacers will alter your scrub radius and these cars have such amazing suspension and steering systems. Why mess with it unless you are building a hard core track car? Up to a 5mm spacer will not affect the steering, but beyond that will. A better solution is to actually go with 9" wide wheels in front with a 55mm offset. If, however, you are doing this purely to alter the appearance, then whatever you like is whatever you like, but recognize there is no "optimal" then.

Thank you VVG

I did mention I am after aesthetics. . . so, I was suggesting 'optimal aesthetics' which I understand is subjective.

I was hoping another member may have placed 15mm up front / 7mm rear - alone or in combination - that I could see (pics).

I do not track, and spacers on my prior P cars and ///M cars have never provided any adverse performance during my spirited driving. . . and I assume they all come set up for 'optimal' roadway driving.

100% agree... im buying 10MM for the front...I think that will fill it out well. FYI... I tried 7mm from numeric racing... their product is top notch, however their 7mm spacers are 3 prong... our cars from what I can tell are 5 prong. that doesn't leave many options... luckily im OCD and found 8 & 10MM options that are supposed to work. ill know soon enought

Thank you AtoB

At some point we start splitting hairs . . . I think 7mm is not enough and wonder if 15mm might be too much up front?

So, when I say I think 10mm is not enough and 12mm might be perfect, it starts to sound kind of ridiculous . . . I realize.

That stated, I have yet to come across a reputable brand that produces either 10mm or 12mm . . . hence, I feel like it is 15mm, or nothing up front.

I think the rear could use a little more poke and 7mm would do the trick, as well as offset some of the 'geometry change' a 15mm spacer would provide up front. The basis of this statement is purely empirical, as I have done something similar with my ///M cars and it has always worked out really well, both aesthetically and performance-wise.

At any rate, I would be very interested to see how your 10mm front spacers look, as well as learn what brand you go with. The brand is very important, as not all spacers are created equal - as I have learned the hard way. With ///M cars I have great experience with Burger Motorsports; With the GT4, seems Future Classic is top of the line based on other owner experiences.

Thank you again

From what I read here in the past you are going to have a hard time fitting spacers to the rear due to fitment issues, but it will be interesting to see how they turn out.

I went 5mm on the front and none on the rear of my Spyder, since I prefer to have a little staggered look.

Thank you Bob

With little by way of responses to this point - particularly by other members with 15mm up front - I am leaning toward starting out with the forum 'go-to' which is 7mm up front.

Not convinced it will be enough poke, but could be wrong . . . we shall see.

When I was at the shop last year I had a pair of 5s and 7s so I had them put the 5s on first and when they put her down I liked the look enough to leave it alone and sold the 7s. The difference is so small it is hard to see (less than 1/8") so IMO 5-8 in the front will work, but I feel using the least amount of spacer is always the best.

Thank you Pete

From the pics, the 8mm offers a nice little poke . . . I would like more, but will take it.

Where did you get 8mm spacers?

I had a 718 GTS in GT silver and absolutely loved the color . . . yours looks great!

Thank you again Bob

You are correct. We start splitting hairs in millimeters. Not much of a difference between 5-7mm . . . but I wish I had a quality product giving me a choice between 10-12mm.

As any rate, as before, I am going to probably just go with 7mm up front (or 8mm like Pete, depending on source). It is safe and seems to provide some needed poke.

Here is what 5mm looks like, and as I said I like to retain a staggered look but the fronts are too tucked from the factory:

Thx Avera.
Im pretty nutty about wheel offsets - I think they match the rears pretty perfectly when seen in person.

4wheelspacers.com

I’ve used this brand on a few cars now. It’s been 100% perfect to date.

I think you and Pete have convinced me 7mm up front will be perfectly fine.

Your Spyder is awesome by the way.

Thank you Pete

I looked at their spacers online, but their site indicates fitment only through 2020 year models. Not sure when the 981 GT4 stopped production, but I assumed their spacer only fit the 981 . . . perhaps nothing changed for the 718 GT4 and they did not bother updating site?

At any rate, thank for the confirmation that they work and you have been pleased with the quality of the product. I will revisit their site.
