Default Spyder: a trick to top-drop double click?

You are supposed to be able to double click (and hold) the unlock button to get the top to unlatch and the boot to open, but it only seems to work 50% of the time. Have others experienced this? What am I doing wrong? Is there a technique I am missing?

Is this feature available in the North American market?

Never tried it.

I thought key needed to be in ignition.

The open top feature works in NA. The close feature is not (at least in US).

To open the top, the key definitely does not need to be in the ignition. The dance is supposed to be, with key fob:

Press unlock and release
Press unlock and hold until roof unlatches and boot opens.

This does work, just not reliably for me.

Default Top

The North American cars do have this. The only feature us North Americans can’t be trusted with apparently is the feature to hold the lock button to latch the top from outside when closing the top.

Regardless of command the FOB seems to be very position/range dependent. Sometimes standing next to the car have to push lock/unlock couple of times for function.

WRT to roof; unlock followed by two more quick unlocks and hold the last unlock always works for me.

Now I got to try this. This would be a convenient feature.

Obviously I didn’t RTFM.

I don’t believe it’s in the NA OMs..at least not my early 2021 build.

So Tx, you triple push (holding on the last)? Sounds like unlock, brief pause, dbl unlock and hold? This works reliably for you?

I only know about this from scouring YouTube for spyder content while I waited for my car.

Yes, of course entirely possible I’m over-pushing…

I always use this method to drop the top.

I have found that just pushing unlock and holding it works (most of the time), when I am right next to the car.

Worked every time on my 981. I don't know why it wouldn't work on the 982.

I tried this for the first time this morning, and it worked for me.

Single push and hold. After about 3 seconds, the roof unlatches, the trunk opens and windows roll down half-way
