Sports Seats (2-way) vs. Adaptive Sports Seats (18-way)
Hey all, curious about your thoughts on the base Sports Seats Plus (2-way) seats vs. the Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18-way) with Memory Package (18-way).
In my 981 Boxster S, I have the base seats right now, and never have had any problems: the bolstering and "performance" is great for spirited joyrides on the weekends, and my significant other *rarely* drives the car, so manually re-adjusting everything once every few months is okay. I definitely don't see much merit in "weight savings" for non-track, non-competitive use
However, I just took a ride in a friend's 992 S with the 18-ways, and the bolstering and lumbar felt amazing.
I think I'm pretty much sold on the +$2,820, but would love to hear input.

Sofas i.e. 18-ways also feel amazing to me. My experience is limited to couple test drives, though.
That being said I spent several days in a rental with base seats, and did not have major complaints either.
YMMV, really depends on one's body.
All I know the buckets suck for me. Not ingress/egress, they were just uncomfortable to sit in for me.
Ordered sofas.

2 ways are lighter and can go lower. My 18 ways are great in terms of achieving driving positions and comfort. They however almost in their lowest setting, so other could want lower.
I tried out various seats at dealer before deciding.

LWBS in my last Spyder, 18 way in this one. Appreciate the adjustability, long trips great to be able to tweak lumbar and bolsters.

There are lots of threads on this topic already, but here's my 2-cents again.
I had the standard sport seats in my 981 Cayman, and I really liked them except for the lack of lumbar support. I like the extra adjustability of the 18-way seats in my 718 Spyder. I've been satisfied with the standard sport seats in my Cayman and 18-way seats in my Spyder. They're both good, but after owning and driving my 718 Spyder for the past 18 months or so, I'm glad I opted for the 18-ways. The support and bolstering of the 18-ways are superior to the standard sport seats in my opinion. The 18-ways are very good for daily driving and track use too.
Whether or not to order the 18-way sport seats over the standard sport seats was the only thing I had second thoughts about after placing my 718 Spyder order (after driving a Spyder with the LWBS option, I never even considered ordering those for my car because I'm not a contortionist). Fortunately, I made the right choice for me by going with the 18-ways.

I have 2 way Sport Buckets in my 987 Cayman S. They have a hardback shell and we’re an option at the time. I love those seats! Very comfortable to me. My wife doesn’t care for them. Not much adjustment. My only experience with LWBS was at the LA Experience Center in a GT3. They were comfortable and you felt secure: I ordered the 18 way seats in my GT4. I often question my purchase to myself. My wife LOVES the 18 way seats. I’m not as sold and probably would have gone LWBS if I had to do it over. I wanted heated seats for me and comfort for her. There’s so many adjustments in the 18 ways I can’t get comfortable. The Princess & Pea syndrome…. I’m sure the 2 ways are just as fabulous! I say go with LWBS if going the 2 way route. Just my 2 cents….

18 ways you can get with leather backs which look amazing and are what I had in my last Spyder. This one I'm going with LWBS but really no wrong answer.

Remember that there are 5 different seats across the 718 line and what is “standard” and what is available as options varies across the line.
The standard seat in the Base is not the same as the T. The standard seat in the S is not the same as the GTS.

The major downside IMO to the 18 ways is that they are very heavy, adding about 100lbs. The 2 ways are basically the same weight as the LWBs.
I think the 2 ways are great, but I'm happy I have 18 ways and would probably spec another car with them. The adjustable bolster of the 18 ways keeps me just as planted on the track as the LWBs (have been in both now on the track) so the 2 ways are probably inferior there, but I'm sure they'd still be good enough I'd have no complaints on the track.
6' 3" I see no height problems with teh 18 ways either. Someone would have to be all torso imo for there to be height issues with needing a lower seat, so a very rare individual imo.
18 ways adjusting is somewhat overkill as you'll set it once and likely call it good, adn the 2 ways probably have a million hours of R&D into them making them fit most people fine, and with the 18 ways it would be extremely annoying if you share the car with a spouse in the gT4 as there is no memory whereas the 2 ways would be quick to reset back to your prefs manually.

I’m getting 2 way on my BGTS. I’m 6”1’ but long torso. 2 way gives about 1.25 inches of headroom. Some complaints about non adjustable seat angle but it could be solved by installing $100 bracket.https://designsbyjacob.com/products/...cliner-bracket. I don’t think my wife would drive my BGTS at all therefore seat/steering/mirror memory function is not needed, I never use the lumbar either.
