GT4RS Deliveries and Production Discussion
#2401
Let's not pretend this is a good thing. The nonchalant nature of dealers with delays this bad, with most folks paying mark-ups, really shows how little Porsche cares about their customers.
I've ordered many many cars over the years and almost all are delayed. But what's unique to Porsche is how little the dealers seem to care about the customer. Even Ferrari provided updates, would call the factory to see what was going on, provide apologies, etc. It's a sad day when Porsche is hollier-than-thou even vs. the prancing horse. Now the reality is P-cars are mass produced so it's less easy for dealers to call their corporate folks and get updates from the factory, but that doesn't mean we should just be accepting of the attitude.
They may change their tone if sales keep falling but many of us have long memories...what I've noticed is the people that only own porsches tend to make a lot of excuses for the brand, but folks that own a variety of marquees less so. I know a lot of people that moved on to other brands and haven't looked back, so yea, I have to agree a bit with the kool-aid drinking comment.

Q1 deliveries in the gutter as everything sat in port because chip embargo.

The last few years of sales don't matter if they start missing targets now. Q1 alone is not going to give us enough indication which is why I said "keep falling".

Porsche ensures strong sales by making good products, and since they can easily sell all the sports cars they're willing to make, they don't go out of their way to provide good customer service. When the winds of the economy change, their attitude towards customer service may change. I would like demand to fall and things going to back to normal, where it's not too hard to get a car and some depreciation can be expected.

The first photos I saw of the car was another RL member seeing the car and posting the photos here. Before the dealer even called.

My only concern is the Macan. No chip impact there and sales were down 18% (approx. 7000 units to 5700 units). I think it has gotten too expensive relative to the value. $75k is a lot to ask for a 4-banger with the same layout since 2015. 718 was down but something that low production is a non-factor and probably just due to production cycles. However CPO was up 16%, so maybe normal Macan buyers are gravitating that way.

@7184RS sorry for your experience. In general I think the tracking app works pretty well for the two cars I purchased in the last two years. It even tracked when my car moved from Zuffenhausen to Leipzig for European delivery and back when it was switched to Zuffenhausen. In my case it was a little bit of a black hole after European delivery because it considers the car delivered, and you don’t get further updates after the car is dropped off for shipping. I dropped an air tag in the car so I could always know where it was, at least until it was in the middle of the ocean.
That being said it is a bit of a luxury, and perhaps does more harm than good by giving a peek into how the sausage is made. Sometimes it’s not pretty.
The experience was probably designed for the 99% of orders that go through without a hitch and give the customer a concierge like experience. For those orders it is a stark contrast to the previous experience. It doesn’t have great error handling for the orders that have unique exceptions.
your dealer might have more accurate info in their system, but are probably not proactively checking on your order when they have cars to sell and deliver to customers today. Your car will arrive when it is finished, and they will deliver it to you.
i did have some delays and disappointment in my order due to European delivery. It was completed in May 23, and my original Leipzig delivery with the track experience got cancelled. Then there were no appointments in Zuffenhausen and I think they just invented a new type of experience to accommodate the large number of people that opted for the factory delivery.
Was it disappointing yes, but definitely a luxury to have these kind of problems in life.
Getting the car has erased any anxiety and frustration I experienced during the wait. It really is one of the most unique cars ever made by Porsche.
Good things come to those who wait is what my mom always told me.
Hope yours gets to you soon.
