To Weissach or not to Weissach…
#16
I didn't spec it, I went with a white car and gold wheels. If it had a performance aspect I would have gone for it, however being purely cosmetic I didn't. And if I miss it I can just have the hood wrapped in carbon for $1k.
The only thing that had me considering it was the fact you had to option it to get PTS.

Honestly, unless you particularly like the look - waste of time. I agree a small amount of exposed CF can look good (I have that in the interior of my GT3 RS) but a full roof or frunk looks tacky (IMHO) - peak norties ricer racer. Also the WP logo on the head restraints is "try hard".
So from my perspective, its overblown, norties tacky and will be irrelevant longer term for resale.

I spec'd it because I wanted pastel orange. If I could get pts without the weissach package I would. Only thing I like are carbon intake ducts instead of the standard plastic but everything else is borderline tacky.

The WP will totally pay for itself if you get the mag wheels with it - just look at the premium GT2 and 918 WP cars are getting. I'm sure it will be the easiest/fastest to sell since it is the most desirable spec vs waiting around for a buyer that's looking for something less than the ultimate.

If you don’t get any additional enjoyment out of the WP, and you’re therefore considering it purely for resale / investment value, I have a hard time believing that the WP on a gt4rs is going to be the highest returning asset one could invest their money in over the coming 5-10 years. If you love it and will appreciate having it every time you open the door to the garage, of course spend the money on it, but if you’d prefer not having it, I think it’s a silly way to invest.

I think the extra value of it is an absolute unknown. The name definitely is worth some money, but all other Weissach packages on the other RS cars have given performance advantages over the base car. It's typically for weight savings with the carbon roof, etc. but we don't get that. It's strictly an appearance item on the GT4.
Will a car with the package be easier to sell in the future? I don't doubt that. However, will you be able to get the $13k back? That I'm not so sure about. Maybe in 25 years, but likely not in the short term.
For me, I bought my GT4 (non-RS) for me, with the plan to keep it forever. I didn't spec it based on what others may want. That said, I _wanted_ a number of things that others would want, so I got them.
For the most part, I'd probably agree with others. Buy it for you. You'll find a buyer when it's time to sell no matter how you spec it.

Thanks for all the great comments. I’m sure the next-gen Caymans and eventual GT versions will be awesome cars but I’m buying this GT4RS because I’m a petrol-head by nature and will most likely keep this for as long as I’m able to drive. Hopefully, I’ll get dirty looks in 20 years from people looking at the old guy who refuses to join the herd and go electric. The comments about not worrying about the investment side of things were right, I’ve been very lucky and don’t have to worry about that in my life any more but its hard to put aside that frugal, business side of yourself when its what got you to afford a car like this. Old habits die hard. I’m getting this car exactly the way I want and not what I think future buyers will pay my kids when I’m gone.

I went GT silver Non WP as I did not prefer the carbon bonnet or the Alcantara dash. Leather dash, steering wheel and gear boot. Have added the WP carbon quarter window air intake, from Suncoast Porsche Spares, 20min a side fit. Improves the look I think.

I also opted for nonWP, since
- I dislike the RaceTex dash with upper leather doors (whose idea was this??),
- would have to go with extra $$$ for the painted stripes,
- this is not comparable with 3RS since there you got a complementing carbon roof,
- wanted black tail pipes (car is black) and
- there is ZERO performance increase / weight reduction.
Better to invest the money e.g. in Litespeed mags, tractive dampers, front canards with wing riser and / or Akra OAP...

I love seeing these non WP 4RS. I think the take rate is crazy high for the WP.

+982 I did not like the standard wheels at all so it was a no brainer for me to get WP and the mag wheels.

No I didnt take pictures...but the process was so easy watching a Porsche Repair mechanic do.
Removed the rubber boot connecting air intake to air box. Rubber trim on door frame. Small amount of roof header. Undid two nuts (see bolt picture) and pushed the three retaining clips (also pictured) out. Quick clean. Popped new carbon intake in place. Tightened bolts, replaced header and the rubber boot. Done!
