The last two drives however, coolant temperature spikes (from cold start) to about 201F degrees within 2 to 3 minutes after starting engine, while oil temperature is rising like it normally does. At this point, the oil is only around 99F degrees but the coolant is all the way up to 201F!

After about 10 minutes, oil is about 163F and coolant is 183F. After 15 minutes, both have stabilized to 216F coolant and 228F oil and operates like it normally does from there. My concern is, why suddenly the *coolant* temperature is erratic and suddenly rises much much faster, never having done this before. No lights or error messages have appeared thus far.

My best guess would be a temporary glitch.

A few months ago, I happened to hit the AS/S button at the exact moment the car decided to shut off. The car did NOT like that at all. When I started it again, it threw 2 or 3 different fault codes and I had the same exact thing happen. The oil temp gauge went way up to like 230 and stayed there. After about 15 minutes, all the faults cleared and the oil temp went back down to a normal number and fluctuated as normal for the rest of the drive.

Yesterday, my A/C didn't work (it was blowing hot, outside air). I shut off the car, started it again, and it was fine.

Gremlins. Or witches. Or, you know, electronics. Take your pick.

Twice now when I started my car the AC compressor wouldn't turn on. What fixed it was turning the HVAC off entirely and then back on. Turning the AC compressor switch off/on didn't fix it.

I hope this doesn't keep happening.

I normally drive in sport mode so have been accustomed to the temps in that mode. Usually my coolant is at 194 and oil at 220-221. However, I was driving longer distances today in normal mode and noticed that while the coolant remained at 194, the oil temp got up to 239. I was starting to get worried but it didn’t get any higher. It’s definitely still in the mid range, but when I switched to sport mode to see what would happen. The oil temp started dropping back down to 220. Glad I found this thread.

FYI this is markedly different behavior than prior - and on all my p-cars, I watch the temps, pressures religiously as I want to know if something is going south before it craters! LOL
This just started happening with my Spyder. Could you update us on what was found with your car?

Thanks!

Damn, mine rises fast but doesn't get near 180/200F for 5 min or so of 'regular' driving (I keep it under 4k until oil is at 190F).

Yeah, my 2023 Spyder is always running around 220-230 for both oil and coolant. Just driving around town, nothing crazy.
