Default 718 GTS Boxster 4.0 - PTS order change?

Good evening everyone, this is my first post so thank you for any and all responses. I received a call yesterday from my dealer saying that they had an allocation for my order and it had been accepted. This is for a 718 GTS Boxster 4.0 with PTS colour. He told me to finalize my order and once I send it that it's locked in. He told the slot is for Oct and I should receive the car in December or January. Should I have received a code from the dealership showing the order was accepted? I actually emailed my sales guy the very next day because I wanted to make 2 small changes and he said that it was too late and I can't change anything because it's locked in. Does anyone have experience with this? It seems strange that for an October build slot and the fact I order the car yesterday that it can't be changed? Thank you

Welcome to RL!

Congrats on getting an allocation for a 4.0 car.

I’m moving this over to the 718 4.0 sub-forum for discussion.

I've only ordered one Porsche, so take it with a grain of salt, but this wasn't my experience. I received my allocation/commission # in Dec '20 for a May '21 build. It ended up being built in June, but I didn't lock until mid May. PTS could very well lock an order down much sooner.

The dealership should have provided you a screenshot from the Porsche Vehicle Management System. That will show your commission number as well as your lock date, and full build schedule.

News is they are being VERY strict on PTS dates--basically to the point that it's an instant 3-step dance:
  • 1A: You get an allocation for PTS (big congrats, BTW).
  • 1B: You submit the build that they accept.
  • 1C: You are immediately locked.
My suggestion, if your changes have nothing to do with PTS or CXX, let the dealer know you are OK with the build being pushed out (and it will be)--and that getting those changes made are crucial (and you won't do it again).

It's early enough in the 23MY...that it should work out for you. (And I hope it does)

Thank you for the info....This is my build code - http://www.porsche-code.com?PP2UVC31

The changes were not a deal breaker so if it means upsetting the dealer or pushing the build I am just going to leave it. I was going to change the wheel colour to Aurum and change the leather wheel to Alcantara but I have been back and forth with both options so I think I just let things be.

Thank you

Aurum would look absolutely **** with that color. Just sayin'.

The only way to know for sure 100% is to look at the V status of your vehicle. V250 means the entire vehicle is locked but it seems that for PTS folks, our "lock" date is V215. I believe V215 means the paint color is locked but other options can still be changed. I'm not 100% sure on this because people have been reporting varying information on V215 but if you're V170 or V110 or something other than those two, you should be able to change. Now changing anything, especially with a PTS car will come with the risk of your build being pushed further and further out and possibly even losing PTS so be careful.

I think the most important thing should be an order code. V200 means that the order has been accepted and a delivery estimate has been provided. I'm not sure if PTS is different (i imagine it would be), but i find it surprising they wont allow other changes to the car.

Sounds like a customer cancelled their PTS order and they are moving to the next in line, you...

You are fortunate in this market, but with HELOC reviews and stock portfolio declines, cancellations will likely happen more and more....

If your dealer is Porsche London, I have found them to be totally above board, having purchased two vehicles there....

Suggest you just ask them what is going on...

Congratulations, by the way!!!

Cheers!

Personally I think the black wheels disappear into the wheel wells. I'd spec it with either silver or satin platinum wheels to add a bit of contrast.

given the current supply chain issues that are seriously impacting Porsche Production I would not recommend you attempt to change your PTS order, there is a real risk that you will lose your PTS place - these "windows" are 1st come
1st served, and any changes that might impact your build dates could put you at the end of the queue again... YMMV

you can always buy an alacantara wheel from your dealer as well as the wheels - or swap them with another owner .... that would be my recommendation
