This is totally false. No 718 Spyder/GT4 is selling around MSRP. That is only happening with the 981.

I had the same concerns. Who knows what the market will do - people may be dropping off lists by the end of the year, ADMs may come down if the economy continues to take a hard dive. If that happens maybe you can negotiate with your dealer down to closer to MSRP.
Like many have stated, I am jumping on the allocation because I don't know how many more will come up. Porsche seems to be prioritizing 911s over 718s. Then add in GTR RS and future Spyder RS taking some of these higher value build spots and it just doesn't look good for future Spyder allocations.

After hearing everyone’s advice, I was able to bargain it down to 15K ADM, with me promising that I ll go to this dealer for services as well.

I think in the end the market will probably cool down but given that future 718 are all gonna be electric I don’t see those GT car value drop by much. Plus, there’s literally no other cars in the market that i want more than the spyder.

Thanks everyone!

I'm in the almost same position. I'm on a couple MSRP lists but I'm not hopeful on getting any allocations from them. I started my search in 2020 and had my pick of MSRP allocations, but I passed on them thinking I could delay a couple years. My dream car has been a GT4 for a while so when I was offered a 20k ADM allocation I took it barely thinking twice because well...FOMO. No regrets so far...

Do we know how many units of the GT4 and Spyder they are making for 2023 models? Last year I believe….
prices won’t drop below MSRP for a while for sure.

I don’t know about eBay; but many on here have reported huge asks above MSRP.

You talking 981 Spyders?
^That car's MSRP is $108 so it sold for $16k over. This is the norm now, not $20-60k... My point being if you're looking for a fairly common spec, just buy used. You'll get the car now and will likely pay less than a $20k ADM for a car that's still essentially new.

First you said MSRP.

Second, the buyer paid $5K auction fee to acquire the car. So he paid $21K over MSRP for a used car.

Whether it’s additional money to a dealer or auction house it’s all the same when talking Market Value.

That car had 9k miles on it.

Please show those auction results at MSRP that you stated in your original post.

$15k ADM is a good deal for pricing lately. Enjoy your build and new ride when you get it. What spec?

my dealer in San Francisco area said they’ve got 0 gt4 since Oct 2021, only 1 spyder, and that suggests most of the gt4 production bandwidth was moved to gt4 rs. With spyder rs in the horizon, I would assume much of spyder production may also be halted to make room for the rs model?

Manual, chalk body, red stitchings, leather steering wheels and gear shifter, brushed aluminums, satin platinum wheels.
I didn’t opt for any carbon fiber, bucket seat or pccb, and I plan to not get the cup 2 tires. I plan to drive it for fun on the mountain roads and not on track.

If you have the money, go for it. Order exactly what you want, enjoy the car and don't look back.

I would assume San Fran dealer probably high volume too.

My local dealers will probably get 2-3 units of GT4/Spyder still for 2023 from what the tea leafs are telling me.

I agree. Get what you want. Unless the market dips significantly, and I don't think it will with these cars, you'll get most of the ADM back when you sell the car down the line. There are no free rides right now. Hop on.

There's also something about picking up a car at the beginning of the summer and enjoying 10,000 miles of top-down, epic driving. The allocation game of wait and wait and wait and then get the car in the winter season is nothing short of boring. For me, I would look along both angles. A) get your build in and B) look for a nicely built pre-owned. If B) comes along, which they do, then you could jump on that and drive it until your new one arrives. You'll be able to trade it in on your new one. Lost money? Maybe yes, maybe no.

Have fun on your quest!
