Default Werks Reunion, Monterey

I know we're still a few months out but anybody already have plans to go or at least book their sleeping accommodations? Interesting that they still haven't announced the location of the event for Monterey yet.

Here's a link for those interested. https://www.werksreunion.com/monterey.cfm

I'm going. Went last yr also. Made hotel reservations the day after the last one. Every decent hotel is probably already booked.

I’ll be there again this year as well, haven’t missed it since the first I attended in 2015.

lets hope they dont use that golf course location - driving over those bumpy wood chip covered "roads" of the entrance/exit was poorly thought out IMO

We booked our stay at the Embassy Suites in Seaside...Great location and very close to all events...Stayed there last year with a ocean bay view...Just down the street from Porsche Monterey which has an event each year.

I didn't mind the actual venue last year but the entrance/exit was terrible. I ended up meeting a fellow RL member where we then met about 15 or so other people and cruised in together. We got there early and I was 3rd in line of the group. The first car was a GT3 RS, I believe and as the entrance worker waved him to go, the second car in the group was right behind him. Little did he know but the GT3 RS driving on wood chips in the cold air ended up basically doing a burn out on the wood chips and sprayed the 2nd car with the wood chips. The entrance worker kept trying to get me to come up closer behind the 2nd car and I was like nope. I'll wait for him to clear the uphill on wood chips. Hopefully, they come up with a better solution if it's held at the same place this year.

I ended up getting an AIRBNB and specifically found a place with a garage. It's funny when looking for an AIRBNB and the main question I ask is, does it have a garage I can use and is the ramp to the drive way steep vs people usually asking question like is there a coffee maker, is the neighborhood quiet, how good is cell reception at your house, etc.

Last year we booked an AIRBNB in Redwood City because on Saturday, we ended up going to Napa for the first time so I just figured we could split the distance. This year, I think we're going to spend our Saturday in the Monterey area and may try and check out Rolex Reunion especially if they offer a parade lap on Saturday so we're staying closer to Santa Cruz.

If anybody is interested in meeting up, let me know.

I didn’t see a location? They’re advertising it already without a venue?

They been advertising the event for some time now but no mention of location except to say in Monterey and the tickets go on sale on the 25th.

Don't know the area so don't know the good vs bad spots to host this kind of event but at least I have my AIRBNB with garage and easy slope ready. Now to just find some good sushi and seafood spots around the area. I found this place called Swan Oyster Depot but it's all the way in SF. If anybody knows of something similar in the Monterey area, please share.

There aren't many spots to host an event this big in Monterey during Car Week, other than the poor choice from last year, so it seems odd they would advertise before they actually locked down a venue. My guess is that they're going to be stuck in the same place.

Looks like they just updated the website with the location. It's showing to be located at Monterey Pines Golf Course at 1250 Garden Road, Monterey CA 93940.

Anybody familiar with the location care to give their feedback on this selection?

Not a great location to move large volumes of traffic. Much smaller overall property as well, but probably large enough for the exhibitors.

It's a low end muni course connected to the Navy (Naval Post Graduate School is in Monterey).

There are real roads, not the crap entry drive like at Bayonet. I believe it is a very flat property, so my guess is that it can’t be as bad as last year. But I don’t know where they’re gonna park everyone.

It’s right next to the airport, at the intersection of 1 and 68.
