Default How do your tires look?

Can you guys post pictures of your tire edges (not the treads)? I have the Dunlops race Maxx 2's, had the car for 2 years now, 2500 miles - the edges look kind of more worn than they should? Never had any camber work, never drove it rough or did any sliding. Anyway, I'm debating on going to the track in August for the first time with this car. Want to see how your tires are wearing in

the gt4 is notorious for causing outer tire ware. The 2 main issues are springs for car are way to soft, causes body roll, and you get to much weight on outside tire. Stock front springs are about 257lb per sq inch, vs gt4 club sport is like 470lb per sq inch. Secondly, over driving the front end is big factor, key to driving gt4 is “slow in, fast out”, so brake earlier and gas out of corners. If you plan to track, you will need more camber. This all comes together the faster and harder you drive. Ask me how I know, lol. Ton of research, going through tires, all fantastic learning experiences. It’s been a hoot!

I have 2 quasi track days. One was a PCA national school so doesn't really count IMO since it was instructor training, more us screwing with each other trying to roll play the worst student we've encountered, only hit 1.35g that day and no tire edge wear worth mentioning, and another tonight where I drove slow (always had a student in the car) but hard enough to where I was engaging the aids continually by rotating my *** on corner entry and throttle steering out of some corners. 1.61g hit there on cup 2s. Tire wear is rubber is rolling itself off and IMO it's just a a bit of edge wear.

No shims yet, no alignment yet (but mine came from the factory with the camber almost maxed on the front end for adjustment). I had zero edge wear up until I went to the track. 2200km on the car now.

When was the last time you had the alignment checked? If you've never had it checked, you could start there. Also, you can make minor alignment tweaks with the stock suspension.

Here's a photo of the front and rear edges on my Sport Cup 2s at about 2650 miles if that helps. They are holding up pretty well after three autocrosses and about twenty fast laps on COTA a couple of months ago... plus some modestly aggressive driving in general. I do have the camber at about -2.3 degrees front and -1.7 rear.

It might be handy to post pictures of your tire edges/treads as well since the brain trust here might be able to help more if they can see what you mean.

Mine has 2300 Miles with most canyons and 1 track day. I will post a picture later, since the wheels are now in storage.

with those camber settings really need to watch the inside shoulder of the tires - but then you knew that already!

I'm doing pretty much only track miles now so inner wear is less of an issue. I completely destroyed my outside edges with only 2.5/2.0
