No more GTS 4.0 dealer says
I thought I would ask the wisdom of Rennlist members. I am not new to the Porsche world and its archaic order system; having owned a 987.1, a 991.1 and a 958.1. I know there are a lot of supply restrictions but I thought that if my horizon is far enough, it should not affect me. Thought of ordering a Cayman GTS 4.0. Don’t mind if there is a 2-3 years waitlist, since I know production will stop in 2025. However, when I visited my local dealer (from whom I bought two Porsches before), he said no more Cayman GTS 4.0. Didn’t even bother checking. Is this true?

They just refreshed porsche.com and increased the price for MY23. However, the dealer probably has 20+ names on the waitlist and they're getting like very few a year so they figured there's no chance before production ends.

*Complete speculation here* MY24 will be the last (that much is confirmed), which means production would end mid-2024 (speculative date). That means 2 years of production from this point and the dealer as @cpxchewy said probably has enough people on the list to eat up the remaining allocations they'll get over the next 2 years.

There’s a little over 2 years of 718 production left and my local dealer says they have enough GTS 4.0 orders on their wait list that there is a very slim chance of newly placed orders getting a car

Nah don’t have that attitude, you must believe!
You could call or visit any other dealerships in your state. They may be happy to take your current and future business.
I hear in the USA you can get a broker to basically find you an upcoming production slot for like a $20-25k ADM on a GTS. If you are willing to part with the money, you could possibly have a car to spec delivered before the end of year.
Good luck!

Just remember is you are say # 20 in the que, likely 10 others in the que give up or buy a different car. Happened to me in 2020. I was #6 in que for a 4.0, then 4 people ahead of me cancelled and I got allocation.

Don’t give up so easily. Call around as suggested above. There might be cancellations. That’s how we got our allocation. Dealership had a changeable Boxster 25 available that someone had backed out of. Car just left Emden in route to dealership.

And I got my allocation when others backed out who were in front of me.

People go on multiple lists. Perceived demand by counting number of people ahead of you is most likely an overestimation of true demand.
Don't give up now. It is a bit early IMO.

I was on mutiple lists for a Spyder but I thought it wouldn't happen. Instead, I bought. 981 Spyder and then a month later, my SA calls me and tells me my allocation came up. I had twonother dealers contact m after that with an allocation as I had put my name on maybe 20 dealer lists.
