Default Alcantara/RaceTex on Spyder Interior A-Pillars

It seems that Porsche does not offer the option to wrap the interior A-Pillars on the Spyder in Alcantara AKA: RaceTex. They look cheap in plain black plastic.

Has or does anyone know of a vendor or modification that would permit the upgrade in black Alcantara?

Contact Exclusive Option - they can do this. I had them do some work on my car and it is amazing.

This was one factor in me choosing a Cayman GTS4.0 over the Boxster GTS4.0. It’s something that really stood out to me as well!

Weird that this is not standard on the Spyder. My GT4 has standard Alcantara on the a-pillar.

Maybe the a-pillar panel parts are interchangeable to the Spyder?

Edit - The GT4 a-pillar panels with Alcantara are less than $120 each. Seems like a relatively cheap part (for a Porsche)...

That didn’t bother me at all.

Save me $ by not having to opt for race Tex visors to match in my Spyder. Cheap plastic all around!

Also matches the plastic roll hoop.

Yeah, that’s it. Plastic above belt line. It is by design.

Great find. Are they really interchangeable? Seems strange that they would be, and Porsche would spend money on creating a new part instead of reusing the GT4 version.

BUT this seems to easy, I have a feeling they're not plug and play like we'd want them to be.

Cayman and Boxster/Spyder A pillar covers are not the same shape.

Borrowed a pic from @TXshaggy

While appearing to be the same shape, if you pay close attention they are very different. Spyder/Boxster a pillar ends above the windshield and turns the edge of the windshield. On the GT4/Cayman models it ends maybe 3 inches or more shorter and never reaches the end of the windshield. There is no way the Cayman/GT4 pillar can be used with Spyder/Boxster model

Thank you for all of the feedback. It seems like there is not a simple swap out option here.

It is not a simple swap, but it would be a simple wrap of material for any upholsterer.

Black Widow Spyder has 107 miles in two days.... while I was wiping drool, sitting in the garage, I noticed how cheap the a-pillars look, goes well with airbag warnings on leather visors - Porsche nube

This. Being an open top vehicle, the plastic is there for a purpose. However it appears to be a very durable and high grade plastic. At least it doesn't feel cheap. I have no issue with it.

Never given a thought to the A pillar trim…the airbag sticker is another story and had to go.

In the Spyder w/leather everything above the trim spears is leather, so would make more sense to cover them in leather.

Strangely enough - when I drive my Spyder open top - I don't notice anything other than the road and the sound - too busy grinning from ear to ear! -Plus agree with some other statements, open top and alcantara /racetex might not be a good combo on the visors and A pillars - especially during pollen season!
