I agree with the OP for sure. I am pondering making mine into a sleeper, too. I keep hoping people with DeMan conversions will post more on that thread about their long-term experience.

I can't even imagine how crazy the deman cars feel with the gearing and bigger engine

I had a 981 Cayman GTS with a stick for the last 6 years. I put about 52k miles on it and tracked it 3-4 times. I recently traded it on a Boxster GTS 4.0 with a PDK. Unfortunately, I have only gotten to put a few miles on the Boxster as I have been out of town. The additional power, particularly at lower rpm, is a big difference. The exhaust on-throttle sounds great, but I miss the 981’s burble when you lift the throttle. It is great to have a convertible again.

I’ve only put 450 km on mine since picking it up in November but I took it out last night and have to agree. I’m really liking the exhaust note as well.

Have a few weeks off work finally with no plans to go anywhere so I’ll be finally able to get through the break in

Does the 9A2 evo engine have more lower rpm torque than the 992 gt3 9A1. The YTer JayEmm was just ragging on that car / motor as being gutless down low, even compared to the 991.2 gt3. How does our motor compare?

well JayEmm didn't make that comment when he reviewed the GTS 4.0 and he found any way he could to criticize it otherwise so...

I find the 4.0 to make good torque even down low, it actually reminds me of the r8 v10 in the sense of effortless instant power at any rpm

I am amazed on how much the big engine changes the overall character of the car, it feels like quite a different car altogether from the prior 981S's I owned

Is the 4.0 in the GTS considered a GT product motor? I’m not sure what the answer is.

IIRC, you have almost full torque from 2500-3000rpm. It’s a fairly flat torque curve while the HP keeps climbing to peak around 7k rpm.

I thought I saw the dyno charts somewhere….reminds me of my old C7 corvette powerband:

Nice shot man but definitely an even nicer boxster!

I think it’s a brilliant motor. Wasn’t Porsche supposed to shrivel up and die after it ceased production of Mezger motor?
