992 GT3 is also a very firm ride but it is definitely more refined to drive slowly. Less unwanted sounds from the engine coming in for a start, but the overall comfort level is just higher. And yes, the option of a nicely geared manual box certainly makes the 992 more attractive to those who want MT.
any statement from Bergmeister which he prefers GT4 RS vs. GT3 ?

Seems that the GT4 RS is meant for what I expected, hard core track oriented use, not really suitable for those weekend runs to chat with the C&C crowd!
And the sad part is...very few will see the track :/

I would totally take it to the track if I got one.

Did they fix the damping? The GT4 has too much compression and not enough rebound control. It might be hard to tell on the track, but I wonder if they also fixed the "pogo stick" feeling.

Appreciate the confidence of race car drivers, "And he really doesn’t agree anyone else would’ve done much better" haha. Brilliant

Yeah we had a pre-set route in the nav that we followed, about an hour. Small roads through towns and then slightly more open and deserted ones through the hills.

It seemed better to me than my GT4, definitely. But we didn't have a huge variety of road surfaces.

Thanks for the review!

How was the deep sea blue interior and stitching in person? Seems so variable in the configurator, photographs and videos.

Did it work with the exterior paint and the yellow interior accents?
Was it so dark against the leather and racetex that you didn’t notice it was even blue or was it quite a clear contrast?

I must admit that I paid very little attention to the visuals... time with the cars was relatively short and I focused on the driving. All I remember is being partial to the GT silver car (my own GT4 is as well) and the gentian blue non-WP one was almost elegant looking.

The dark blue elements certainly don't offer much contrast, that's for sure, so won't work as well with brighter colours.

The parts bin nature of the RS has me wondering if the new stiffer springs, control arms, and rear toe links could be fitted to a standard GT4, and if the ABS/brake updates are just software and could be updated for track drivers.

GM offered a program with the C7 suspension that could be done at the dealer.

I also wonder if the intake design will be copied for the GT4 and people can buy the window vents from Porsche.

Outside of the front.....I'm sure the rear could be converted.

But the intake...you'd be cutting up the interior pretty heavily to make that work....

The suspension will be the easiest bit to reproduce on the GT4, the parts bolt on and you can use a DSC controller for the PASM if need be.

Airbox... could be difficult. While you could imagine someone making a plenum with the throttle body on top so the rest of the (undoubtedly expensive) OEM RS intake bits mate up to it, the RS has individual throttle bodies so I assume the layout of its plenum and flaps is very different and possibly incompatible with the 9a2 evo system.

Adopting a side window intake a la 718 CS would be easier but messes up your trunk.

You may be able to fit some of the suspension components, but I would say No on ABS programming and engine intakes. The ABS will be tuned to work with the new 408mm front iron discs (so using that programming with 380mm square setup would not translate correctly at all). And the new air box is designed to work with the side intakes (not the air box used with the GT4).

Maybe the 4RS PCCB's ABS programming would translate better to the PCCB brakes on the GT4, but can't imagine a dealer being cooperative on something like that...
